Reincarnation!Verse Headcanons
Tristan Bell is a young gentleman from a prominent family. He meets the beautiful Naomi Kingston at a ball, and they begin a secret courtship and affair. Eventually, Tristan's father informs him that they have made him a suitable match - unfortunately, it is Naomi's older sister, Susanna Jade Kingston. Though he attempts to refuse the marriage, it causes difficulties in his relationship with Naomi, who is his desired bride, and strains his relationship with his father as well. In the midst of this stress Naomi falls ill, and succumbs to pneumonia. In his grief, Tristan becomes reckless and one night he falls from a bridge into freezing waters and drowns.
After his death, his brother James Bell marries Susanna, although shortly thereafter they are both killed by bandits on a ride through the woods.
Reincarnated during the Civil War era, Tristan lives with his family in the South, the son of a wealthy couple who abhor the practice of slavery and decide to side with the Union in the conflict. Naomi is his neighbor, and they were childhood sweethearts. They are engaged to be married when the political upheaval begins, and since her father is a local official lobbying for southern secession and his father a union loyalist, the engagement is called off. They are forced apart and Tristan goes off to fight in the war, vowing to come back to her and see their marriage through. Unfortunately, he is killed in battle.
Tristan is a young cop in New York, but he gets embroiled in the illegal underground life against his will when he runs into a speakeasy singer named Naomi. Despite his morals and his dedication to his job, there's something about her he can't resist, and he finds himself falling for her.
At some point, they are married and she is pregnant. Then they die. You know where this is going at this point.
Tristan is a high-powered, suits-wearing, workaholic investment banker on a long business assignment in Paris. He ends up hailing the same taxi as successful novelist Naomi (who writes a series about a romance between two reincarnated lovers), and when their eyes meet in the backseat - somehow, they know. They remember. And this is it. They will finally be able to be together.
One day she shows him her novels, and he smiles as says, "I already know the stories." She asks, "Well then, can you tell me how it ends?" And he just replies, "It doesn't. The stories go on forever. Haven't you been paying attention?"
It takes them varying amounts of time, but eventually they remember their past lives, usually when they starting falling in love.
