Pretty Facades
Gwen woke reaching for someone who wasn’t there, as she had many a morning for the last few months. Since her memories of a past life had returned, she’d often dream of the past, and would find herself reaching for Arthur in the mornings before she had fully woken up. Of course, those dreams weren’t always good. Just as many nightmares haunted her nights, and they made it extremely difficult to face her flatmate--because her flatmate for the past year, through a series of random circumstance that may have just been fate, was none other than Morgana.
The woman had been her best friend since shortly before they became flatmates, and with the return of her past life’s memories, Gwen now knew she and Morgana had been best friends before. Until Morgana became an enemy of Camelot started the war that cost Arthur and so many of their friends their lives. So it was understandably difficult for her to keep up the pretense that she had no idea of the horrors of their shared past, though she desperately wanted to preserve their current friendship.
Dragging herself out of bed, Gwen shuffled to the kitchenette and put a kettle on the stove to boil so she could make some tea and try to rid herself of the loneliness she felt after last night’s dream.
