Lover Avenged has such a toxic dynamic. So far all of the books do and I haven’t finished this one, but Rehvenge is definitely irredeemable. I shouldn’t have to say this but if a man is lying to quote on quote protect you then dump their ass. Especially if the lie is “I’m not fucking another woman”. It doesn’t matter if she’s a psycho with weird fingers or if she’s blackmailing you. I think Ehlena deserves a little transparency especially since she got FIRED FROM HER JOB, all because Rehv was being an annoying stubborn dickhead. (And at least she had the balls to own her mistake) Even the whole lying about his sympath side is sketch. And he knows he shouldn’t be getting involved with her with his oodles of baggage, but does it anyways. So what’s the deal? She’s going into this with none of the pertinent information. I guess I’ll see how this works out for them.

Ugh, and Ehlena saying that being on the phone with Rehv was just a form of false intimacy smacked me right in the heart.

And I liked John Matthew, but he’s also falling into the Brotherhood’s go to trope of becoming a whiny git. I don’t even want to talk about how badly they screwed over Phury in the last book.
