The Grits - Make A Sound (Like James Brown) (Grant Phabao Remix) This summer, UK raw funk activists The Grits have put out a new irresistible 45, with some heavy breaks, a funky groove, some typical JB shouts and a psychedelic finale! 'Hey, make a sound, doesn't matter what sound it is, as long as it sounds like James Brown', it says. You need this piece of hard-striking funk, and in close collaboration with The Grits we've cooked a special surprise for you: a skanking reggae remix of that tune by Grant Phabao aiming for the James Scratch Perry Brown sound in full force! The Grits come from Brighton, UK. The band plays raw, rare, psychedelic funk music and make raw, rare psychedelic funk records. Their self-titled 'The Grits' album from 2008 on Freestyle Records is one to hunt down on vinyl - pure funk gold! Since then, they've been putting out some seriously heavy funk 45s, and have recently launched their own imprint, Hamhock Records⦠They're also uploading some free breaks on their soundcloud page for all the b-boys out there! Grant Phabao is the in-house Paris DJs sound engineer and producer. After four reggae albums with Jamaican legends, dozens of heavy-hitting remixes and singles, and a spot at the Glastonbury Festival last june, he took a well-deserved summer break before coming back to the airwaves with a new series of weekly releases programmed to last until the end of the year - at least! Radio host Craig Charles on BBC6 claims he's a genius and this remix with a huge implied reference to James Brown should be his thing. He'll be back after that early 2014 with a compilation of reggae productions 'Dis Is Reggae Soul' and the long-awaited 'Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra' album⦠Additional production, mixing and audio mastering by Grant Phabao Written & composed by Stuart Carter Artwork by Ben Hito Buy hi-res audio on Bandcamp http://bit.ly/1fyEw59 or JunoDownload http://bit.ly/1etdj5J The Grits : official | discogs | facebook | juno | parisdjs | soundcloud Hamhock Recordsofficial | bandcamp | juno | kudos | twitter | wordpress | youtube Music With Soul Records : official | discogs | facebook | juno | soundcloud | twitter | youtube Grant Phabao : official | bandcamp | facebook | juno | parisdjs | soundcloud | youtube Paris DJs : parisdjs.com | bandcamp | facebook | pinterest | soundcloud | twitter | youtube Ben Hito : official | discogs | facebook

Despite the tiresome play of their "Rude" single on the radio, you can't blame these cats for making great music. This track is that juice for them elegant beauxts.Ā
