You can save all your references there and also the pdf formats of those, if you have them. Mendeley even finds all the information from the pdf by itself, so that you don’t have to write it down yourself, which obviously saves up some time and is a huge bonus, since it makes me happy. Once you have the pdf’s saved, you can read them in Mendeley, highlight text and make notes and tag the references as much as you want to.

But that’s not even the best part. You can download the plugin for different text editor programs (MS Word, LibreOffice, and one for the one MacBooks use?) and with that it is super easy to add citation and to create a bibliography. Adding citation is easy, you just click “add citation” and the program let’s you find the reference you need from your Mendeley library based on the authors, year, or journal it was published in. Even then, I think the best part about Mendeley is that (at least in the MS Word plugin) you can add citation in the middle of the text and it changes all the citation numbers accordingly plus keeps the bibliography up to date with the citation all the time.
