hey! ur bender quiz was great! i got airbender, which i wasn’t expecting, but after reading the description you’ve convinced me pretty well. however i’m a griffindor primary/ravenclaw secondary, and neither of the bender types listed with those houses on ur crossover post match up. thoughts? also, how did you decide which houses corresponded to which bending types? thanks for taking the time to make such a great quiz btw, it was really fun 💕
every house has elements of each bending style. primary gryffindors, for example, are intuitive beings. that’s the basis of the morality. that one fact already makes it correspond with both waterbenders or firebenders by default, but it’s also important to note that intuition is a very person thing that differs from each person. someone’s instincts could guide them to naturally value stability or freedom and feeling like something is inherently wrong when that’s compromised. that’s the trouble with trying to match bending to houses--because my system doesn’t perfectly align with the housing system. gryffindor are guided by intuition, ravenclaws construct a trusted system, hufflepuffs value people, and slytherins prioritize their loved ones.
firebenders are motivated by their desires and energy. airbenders crave freedom. waterbenders lead with their emotions. earthbenders want stability. the complicated part is that these things can all exist in very different people.
i think that the #1 thing is that it’s important to remember anything i say isn’t law and people are complicated beings. to narrow anything or anyone down into groups is just not possible, you know? so even if i say that a certain combination of houses equals a certain element, i’m only working from generalizations and my own interpretations. people are complicated so its completely possible for you to be an airbender who is also a gryffindor primary, ravenclaw secondary. nothing about that list is intended to be definitive, it’s just meant as a likelihood.
in terms of how i decided on which bending type went with which house combination, i made a list of all the possible combinations and then read the posts regarding each primary house and secondary house--taking notes as i went--and tried to envision what kind of person that would be. i got stuck a hell of a lot, but yeah
