“If you are on social media, and you are not learning, not laughing, not being inspired or not networking, then you are using it wrong.” - Germany Kent ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few years ago I discovered @achangpt on Insta after my time as a competitor. I instantly fell in love with her IG account because she shed some light on #metabolicdamage, a conversation that most people don’t talk about in the fitness industry, but such an important one for those who become avid dieters. When we met in person for the first time we instantly connected. About a year and a half ago I stumbled upon @freefannifitness’ account. I loved the real conversations she would have about the current state of her body and how important it was to embrace the changes no matter what stage of your fit journey you were on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, @achangpt and I had the sweetest lunch with @freefannifitness during her short visit to SF and we had one of the best conversations about the fitness community/industry and the messages that the world might be missing the mark on. One of the topics we were talking about was around how “fitness people” can be quickly judged on their eating choices when they decide to have that one treat meal or opting to not work out for a week, while someone who doesn’t normally make healthy choices can opt for a fish and veggie meal that day and become instantly praised for making that healthy choice. Why is that? Why has fitness been taken as an all or nothing choice? I can go on and on about the negative damage that this mentality can create, but instead I’ll just reminisce on the beautiful afternoon spent with two amazing women who have been blazing a trail in the fitness community with their passion for helping others recognize the importance of defining health and fitness in your own standards rather than what society defines for us. #redefininghealthy (at Loving Cup)
