hi! if your hrt vial recrystallizes/falls out of suspension after freezing, is it safe to use once it thaws back to liquid, or is it permanently unsafe? the information i found online was kind of confusing. thank you so much for your help :)
online information is confusing because it's all geared towards people who are willing to put in 10% of the required effort, "DON'T FREEZE YOUR VIAL" is the correct speed for girls who buy 1 vial at a time and only buy a new one 3 days before it runs out (you have a spare right?)
the answer is yes, but you need to understand the whole picture or you'll invisibly fuck yourself.
hold my hand. there is no way for you to understand this without math.
the core thing to avoid is drawing from a vial that has any amount of recrystallization. if your vial is 10ml and is concentrated at 40 mg/ml, the total hormone content of the vial is 400mg. if, say, 50mg of that total recrystallizes, 350mg remain dissolved into the oil.
pop quiz: what is the concentration of the solution? quick division problem, should be easy to figure out.
while that 50mg is hanging out in solid form, you somehow avoid drawing up any of it while you pull 0.1ml of solution out of the vial. you set the vial down on your desk, the 50mg recrystallizes back into solution.
pop quiz: what is the concentration of the solution?
slightly more complicated, yeah? still doable, but ask yourself: how would you get that "50mg of the total recrystallize" measurement out of a hermetically sealed vial? I do not intend to solve this problem.
a 400mg vial of estradiol enanthate is enough for roughly 2 years of monotherapy, it will not expire within that 2 years.
do not refrigerate or freeze the vial you are using. store it at room temperature in a dark place.
here's a low-effort high-safety scenario: when it comes time to take the next vial out of storage, drop it in a warm NOT HOT (not hot. 97 degree water is warm, but it feels cool on your skin) water bath and let it sit overnight. in the morning, refill the cup and let it sit again.
that evening, you should inspect it to make sure you can't see even a speck. if it looks good, you can be reasonably certain that it's fine, 24 hours in warm water should be more than enough to dissolve it. if your anxiety needs it, repeat as necessary but do not exceed 4 or 5 days. heat accelerates chemical processes, this is good for dissolving things (sugar into tea/coffee) but bad for making sure your estradiol doesn't break down into not-estradiol, the ideal is to only introduce enough energy to dissolve the hormone and no more.
