Book: The Falling Kingdom Series
In all true honesty, I would never have picked up a book with covers such as the Falling Kingdoms. [So much for not judging a book by its cover].
We had been exchanging books in the office, and lo and behold, I was given the first book of its series, The Falling Kingdoms to read. I loved it!!!!
The Falling Kingdom was about 3 Kingdoms - Auranos, Paelsia and Limeros within Mythica. The birth of prophesized sorceress meant that a search for the Kindred, that had lasted for a 1000 years would soon be over. The Kindred, whose rightful place was in a place called Sanctuary, was the source of magical powers that would allow those who found it to have the powers of element ia. You will be introduced to the Watchers, magical beings that lives in the Sanctuary and could transform into hawks when they entered our World. Their duties was to search for the missing Kindred.
I think it was how Morgan Rhodes wrote the book. It was so full of suspense and you can’t help but love all the main characters Princess Cleiona Bellos, Princess Lucia, Prince Magnus, Jonas Agallon, Niccolo and the Watchers (except for the Baddie - King Gaius the evil Blood King). She narrated it skilfully that a string of emotions went back and forth. Like any tales of witches, there had to be Princesses and Princes, good loyal friends and of course, enemies. You even can relate to the mortal sorceress who was trying to balance her good nature against the growing evil within her. You begin to understand how good evil can feel. If you get what I mean.
Because it was an easy read, i spent around 2 days to finish the book. Unfortunately Morgan Rhodes did not plan on ending it there. She left us hanging. Hence it was only natural that I ended up getting the #2 Rebel Spring and #3 Gathering Darkness. And for a minute there, I thought I was done. [Seriously, there was something about the series that I could not seem to put down. I woke up once at 3am to read it before work]. Then BAM!!! There were books #4 and #5! WHATTT? Did i really sign up for this?
Unless someone gives me the last 2 books, I think I will put it to rest (for now). It was labelled for teen readers but adults with a young heart (me!) can obviously enjoy it. There’s enough blood to make it as gripping as the Games of Thrones.
The Falling Kingdoms series consists of the following books:
The Falling Kingdoms
The Rebel Spring
The Gathering Darkness
The Frozen Tides
The Crystal Storm
