Reading Standard Motorcycle

The 1912 Reading Standard Single Originally started in 1903 with an Indian clone powered by A Thor motor, the Reading Standard (pronounced “Redding”) came into its own in 1907. It was this year that engineer Charles Gustafson would introduce the first side valve engine to America. This new design was powerful; in fact, the Reading Standard was the first bike to climb Pikes Peak, becoming known as the best hill climber around. No other motorcycle would make the climb for another five years. 1912 would also become a notable year for the company as they expanded their line of one single to two singles and a twin.
