[ @askpharos ] Pharos looked up at Uxie, tilting his head to one side. "I am curious about Mega Evolution, as someone that can Mega Evolve. How... exactly does it work?" They held out their Mega Stone, tilting it on their flippers. "I understood it as the bond between a Pokemon and their trainer, but... I was always curious if there was more to it."
Uxie: ...How odd that I see one now, of all times. But allow me to explain, such curiosity should be rewarded! Mega Evolution, or Awakening as it’s more commonly called now is something that can only be achieved during battle or other specific circumstances. Very few pokemon are able to withstand the raw power that comes with Awakening, so it’s considered to be the last of last resorts and is extremely dangerous to do so.
Uxie: Everytime you Awaken, you are borrowing a fraction of your mega stone’s power, you take what you need and nothing more. Take too much and you risk severely injuring yourself or others. When it’s power is completely spent, your stone will shatter and you will have to find a new one. Think of it as a battery of sorts. I suppose you could see Awakening with an emera as a ‘one time use’ mega stone, but I made those by design to be very rare despite how common emera are these days.
Uxie: As for the ‘bond’ aspect, it’s not necessary but I highly recommend it. You’re more likely to stay in control when beside those you trust rather than fighting alone.
