I guess i didnât realize how much lore id have to get through by choosing to insert the reader in the actual plot of the show lol. So yeah, this is gonna be a real slow burn, but bear with me, weâll get to the good parts soon (i hope). Meanwhile, enjoy a chapter all about the girls, because female friendships matter âđť also, justice for Barb. enjoyyyy :3

Chapter 3 - Torn to pieces
The morning starts going bad when I get to the corner where me, Barb and Nancy usually meet and theyâre not there.
Actually, no. Things started going bad when i got home last night and remembered that i wasnât supposed to come home at all. I was supposed to sleep over at Nancyâs. So i had to sneak through my window, which i had thankfully left open a sliver, and sleep in my own bed without my mother finding out. And then sneak out through the window, come to the front door and pretend that i was just âpassing by quickly to grab some things before schoolâ, as though id been out all night. Not easy.
So i pace around the pavement, looking down the street, but there is no sign of either my red head or my wavy haired friends. I huff, anxious, and look at my watch. If i wait any longer iâll be late to Mrs. Larsonâs class. And there is nothing i despise more than being late. So i give up.
I have to run the last few minutes, and manage to sit down just as the bell rings and our teacher comes into class. Nancy is already in her usual seat. She turns to me as soon as I touch the chair
âHave you seen Barb?â She whispers. I quirk my eyebrow at her.
âWhat do you mean, have i seen Barb? Didnât she sleep over at yours?â I whisper back
Nancy looks sheepish. âI..I stayed over at Steveâs. I told her to go home, not long after you left.â
My mouth hangs open âSeriously Nance? And you havenât heard from her since?â
Nancy shakes her head. I feel a pit of unease form in my stomach âIâm sure sheâs fine. Maybe she doesnât feel too well, so she stayed home, we can look af-â
âMiss Henderson and Miss Wheeler! If what youâre discussing is so important and urgent, I suggest you either share it with the rest of the class, or take it outside!â Mrs. Larsonâs stern voice makes us jump in our seats.
âSorryâ we both say in unison.
Nancy and I exchange a look, then turn to Barbâs empty seat. The pit in my stomach grows.
***
âAre you sure we should phone the Hollands?â I ask Nancy, both of us walking briskly towards the public phone.
âWho else do you want to phone?â Nancy asks back. I donât have an answer. She picks up the handle and dials Barbâs house. I cross my fingers.
âCome on, come on, come onâ Nancy whispers to the phone. âHi, uh, Mrs. Holland, itâs Nancy.â
Mrs. Holland must have asked her how she is, because Nancy answers with, âGood, Iâm good.â
I look at her and raise my eyebrows. She speaks again âUm, I was just wonderingâŚis Barb there?â
I canât hear what Mrs. Holland is saying, but the answer must be no, because Nancy looks at me wide-eyed. She stutters into the receiver, âBut she didâŚshe came home right? After the vigil?â
Immediately, i know this was the wrong move. Like me, Barb wasnât supposed to go home last night. Mrs. Holland must have questioned Nancyâs slip, because she quickly tries to cover up again
âRight, yes. She did, sorry. I meant, did she come home this morning? I think she left some textbooks and she was gonna go pick them upâ Nice save, Nance. I nod my approval. But Nancyâs face falls again.
âYou know what? I just rememberedâŚsheâs at the library.â Mrs. Holland says something else and then Nancy ends the call with âYeah, I will. Sorry to bother you.â She puts the handle back in place and sighs, looking at me.
âMrs. Holland hasnât seen her. She didnât go home.â Nancy bites her lip. I put a hand on my head.
âOk, letâs not panic. Iâm sure thereâs a reasonable explanation for all of this.â I say, taking a deep breath to curb the panic rising in me.
âOh Bunny, you donât think something happened to her, do you?â Nancy grabs my arm.
âIm sure sheâs fine Nance. Look, what if we go look right after school?â
âI canât, I gotâŚ.Steve has a game, or somethingâ Nancy looks around, eyes darting everywhere. I sigh again.
âOk, well. Iâll go check then, around Steveâs house. Then weâll see what we should do nextâ
âGod, i really hope sheâs alrightâ
***
Nancy ends up ditching Steveâs game and coming with me after all. We walk as fast as we can to Steveâs house.
âI wish i still had a bike, weâd get there so much quickerâ I groan, trying to keep the pace.
âMe tooâ Nancy puffs. She goes quiet, and I can tell by her face something is bothering her.
âHey, are you alright?â I touch her arm softly. She looks at me, then back at the ground.
âSomething happened. With Jonathanâ she begins. My eyebrows shoot up
âWith Jonathan?â I ask
âYeah. Apparently he wasâŚspying? He was looking at us last night, from somewhere around Steveâs house. He took some picturesâ she explains
Im really confused by this. âJonathan was spying on us and taking pictures? Why?â
âOh, I donât know. But Steve got really pissed, and broke his camera. Some of the picturesâŚsome of them were of me. Up in Steveâs room.â She continues
âOh. Yeah. thatâs kinda weird, we have to admit that.â I say with a face. I canât fathom why Jonathan would do something like that.
âYeah, I know. But iâm not mad though. I donât know why.â She pauses for a bit, and i can tell sheâs debating on whether to speak again or not. She ends up choosing to speak.
âHe also had an incredible timed photo of you falling in the poolâ she looks at me slyly
âOh God, donât remind me of that. That was so humiliatingâ i groan, covering my face with my hands
Nancy stops walking and turns toward me. âiâm really sorry about yesterday, Bunny. I was really stupid, and shouldâve stopped Carol and Tommy. Iâm sorry i forced you to go too.â
I stop as well and look at her. My best friend. âOh Nance, it was awful, but donât blame yourself for it. You canât help it that theyâre assholes.â I say, and pull her in for a hug.
âIâd love to see that pictureâ i say into her hair, and start laughing. She laughs too
âi wish you could see it. Steve ripped all the photosâ she says
i sigh âi guess i canât blame him for thatâ
I pull out of the hug. âCome on. Letâs go find our friend.â
***
âLook! Barbâs car is still hereâ I point to the blue car in the street.
Nancy looks at me âShe never leftâ
We run to Steveâs house, going straight to the backyard.
âBarb?â Nancy calls out
The gate to Steveâs backyard swings open in the wind. I close it, to stop it from creaking.
âBarb?â I call too. Nothing but silence. Nancy and i look at each other, apprehensive.
âIf sheâs not hereâŚâ i start
ââŚwhere could she be?â Nancy finishes.
I look beyond the backyard, into the woods. Maybe she wondered off, hurt herself somehow, perhaps sheâs still lying there. I start walking towards the tree line.
âBarb?â I keep calling. I hear Nancy follow me, and we both walk slowly through the bushes and branches.
Thereâs something eery in the air, a stillness that seems unnatural. Nothingâs around, and yet, I feel observed.
A branch breaks. I jump, looking at Nancy. It wasnât her, because sheâs looking at me the same way iâm looking at her. Frightened.
âNancy, i think we should -â
Something runs past us, making us stumble and fall to the ground. I whip my head and gasp in horror.
We scramble to our feet and sprint out of there as fast as we can, without even sparing a word. We only stop when weâre well into the house lined streets of our neighborhood.
Itâs only after we both stop panting, hunched over and grabbing our stomachs, that i notice weâre crying.
***
âWhat the hell was that??â I ask for the hundredth time.
Nancy and i are both sprawled on her bed. We have no clue what to do next, but right now weâre pretty shaken.
âI have no idea. It wasnât a person, we can be sure of that. Right?â Sheâs looking at her ceiling, trying to make sense of what we only caught a glimpse of.
âNo, it wasnât a person. It didnât have aâŚthere was noâŚâ I try to say it, but the words wonât come out
âIt didnât have a faceâ Nancy says quietly.
I nod, disturbed. âBut it wasnât any kind of animal i can identify. No bear is thatâŚhairlessâ I say
âBesides, whenâs the last time weâve seen a bear so close to home?â says Nancy
We stay quiet for a few moments. Suddenly, Nancy jumps up.
âoh my God, how could i forget??â She starts shuffling around, looking for her school bag. I sit up too, intrigued by her restlessness.
âForget what?â
âThe picture! The picture JonathanâŚoh there it is!â She finds her bag and sits back in bed, spilling its contents. Pieces of a torn picture float out.
âI saved one of Jonathanâs pictures.â she starts putting the pieces together, using the tape lying on her bedside table to hold them to each other. The final product is an image of Steveâs backyard, from the perspective of the tree line. In the corner, you can see Barb sitting on the diving board, looking down. She has her feet in the water. She looks sad, and lonely. My heart aches for her.
Then i notice something else, something behind her.
âThere. What is that?â I point to it. Nancy gets closer, trying to see better.
âI canât tell. Itâs too blurry, right in the corner of the picture.â
âBut itâs something. And i bet it has to do with Barb disappearing.â
âWellâŚwhat do we do about it?â
As soon as she says it, Nancy and i look at each other. Weâre thinking the same thing.
this could be the most brainless brainrot delusional thing to think about considering everything i could be thinking about instead BUT these Vigilante/Adrian Chase x reader fics are hard to read. dont get me wrong i loveeeeeeeee a good 'x reader' fic but i need an accurate depiction of the character. and through no fault of the authors writing these fics, its not hittting the same BECAUSE Adrian is not one to be in a relationship or do those things people usually do in these x Reader fics. so writing these fics that are so relationship based with Adrian becomes so out of character
For example, writing him without his sociopathic tendencies (apart from the killing) and fully go into this loving tender boyfriend or whatever is not doing it for me. Season 2 really brought down the hammer with these fics because Adrian canonically does NOT like sex, its like he has this indifference towards it. HOWEVER, smut and/or a relationship can still exist in these fics but people just gotta learn how.
Adrian as a sociopath could still form bonds with people in his own way. And in addition to that he also claims to have sex in order for those bonds to deepen. but i dont think ive seen enough fics try to use that information thats been layed out so well.
Adrian is a shameless lonely athletic weirdo with touch sensory issues and people need to write him as such. especially if its a canon-compliant fic
Idk tho, with more episodes being released, these fics seem further and further away from Adrian. which is sad because that scene of Adrian in bed with Chris and that lady while ONLY wearing his vigilante mask really did something to me. As a fellow latina i felt like i transcended, thank you James Gunn.

Benvenuti in Italia. L'ora locale è le 21:45.
(Welcome to Italy. The local time is 9:45 pm)
You looked down at the phone in your hand with a mixture of relief and dread. This was your first time home in well over a year. You had bolted from Volterra after overhearing your Uncle Aro make a comment about how your ârealâ parents had died. The story that you had been told since childhood was a lie. You had been lied to by who was essentially the most important people to you.
It turned out your parents had abandoned you. They hadnât died in some fiery crash as Aro had explained. Why he had lied, you weren't sure. Maybe he was trying to protect you? Aro always made a point of your protection being most important.
That didnât make the truth of abandonment easier. It would have been easier to just tell the truth, but âthe truthâ wasnât always Aroâs best quality. You had learned that as a child when you discovered that he had killed your Aunt Didyme years before. Suddenly, Marcusâ constantly depressed demeanor made senseâŚonly he didnât know that he was being lied toâŚyou did.
You shoved the thoughts of the past year from your mind. Maybe if you kept everything bottled up, you would be able to function and forget everything that happened?
Iâm sure Caius hasnât forgotten.
Your boyfriendâŚwhatever he was to you, his name popped up next. You sighed. Caius was and always would be a source of contention. While you loved him, you also wanted to shake him for sitting back and letting all of this stupidity happen. He literally knew everything that was going on in your life and hadnât said a word.
He was most definitely trying to protect me
You didnât even have to question that thought; Caius would have done whatever it cost to protect you. Even if it meant pissing you off in some horrible fashion. Your being mad at him was never on any of Caiusâ âradars to watch.â The arrogant ass knew that you would forgive him soon enough and wanted to talk everything out. He would sit back and give you this look of contempt and say something along the lines of âif only you had listened to me in the first place. Everything that I do is to keep you safe.â
The number of times that you had been told that was mind-boggling. Every time you also wanted to reach across the table and grab a handful of Caiusâ perfect hair and tug until he saw your way. Common sense had told you long ago not to even consider doing that.
âMaybe he was trying to protect me by not saying something? How the hell would he explain to a human child that her parents were barbequed in a car crash and now here you were growing up in a house of vampires.â
Thinking back on your life, Caius had always gone out of his way to protect you. Even when you were a child and he saw you as a pest, when something too âvampire-likeâ came up, he was ushering you out of the room. You were the one (and only) human that Caius had any kind of affection for, so when romantic feelings came about a year before, no one was entirely surprised.
Marcus had seen it coming for some time. He had a rare moment of joy when he was able to tell Aro âI told you so.â
At first, you had been concerned that Aro wouldnât approve. When he did, you also weren't entirely surprised. Not only would you eventually be turned, but you could be another potential jewel in Aroâs treasure box of special people. Being with Caius would also ensure that you would forever be in Volterra under his watchful gaze. Aro wouldnât have to worry about some awful human man with a gym bag of porn in a closet or some loser who would knock you up and head for the hills.
Thinking back to Caius, perhaps, if he didnât snap your head off later, you could sit him down and get some kind of information out of him? Even if Caius was trying to âkeep the peaceâ with Aro, his affection for you would grant you some form of kindness from your lover.
You couldnât help but chuckle at how the words âpeaceâ and Caiusâ name didnât belong in the same sentence as each other. Caius would rather kick ass first and ask questions laterâŚif he had any.
âY/n!â
You looked up the moment that you heard your name. Heidi stood a few feet away, waving her hand.
Of course they would send Heidi.
You werenât offended to see Heidi. In fact, you liked her very much. The girl in you simply hoped that Caius would have come for you himself. You know that wouldnât happen but you couldnât help yourself.
Picking up your bag, you walked in Heidiâs direction as she held her arms out.
âHeidi, it is so good to see you.â
Heidi nodded before moving to kiss your cheek. For a moment, you had forgotten how cold her skin was. She looked at you with a careful expression. You knew exactly what she was doing. Heidi was looking for any signs of âdamageâ and that you had been caring for yourself properly. When she was pleased enough with what she saw, Heidi began to speak.
âItâs good to see you, too, dear. We have been excited for you to come home for some timeâŚwhere you belong.â
Heidi was right. You were going where you belonged. After a year with other humans, you came to the conclusion that your place was with your family. Maybe just maybe, you could get some answers from Aro and Sulpicia?
Picking up your bag, you moved to follow Heidi to the waiting car where Felix sat waiting patiently.
âIâm surprised my uncle hasnât sent Felix after me.â
Heidi turned, glancing over her shoulder. She hadnât heard a truer statement in some time. When it was realized that you had bolted, it wasnât a good night in Volterra. Between Aro freaking out and Caius yelling nonstop, you were indeed lucky that Felix (or Caius himself) had gone after you. It had been Sulpicia who talked both men down. Heidi winced at a memory of that night.
âThe two of you need to let Y/n figure out whatever it is she needs to figure out. She knows where her home and family are. We have given her the tools to be a successful adult.â
Aro had stopped his pacing to stare at his wife. While Caius and Marcus, who had been silent the whole time, stared at her, equally shocked.
âThere are human men out there!â
Sulpicia gave her husband a look before turning to Caius.
âYou say that while he has done a lot more than anyone else to Y/n. Again, let her figure this out. If you recall, we had a conversation when Y/n was a child that she would figure out the truth one dayâŚhere we are.â
Heidi pulled herself from her thoughts before turning back to you.
âYou will need to thank your aunt for that. Sulpicia was the one who put her foot down. Now, let's go home so we can resume our lives. Again, I am happy to see you.â
You didnât pay much attention to the dark scenery on the way home. Instead, you were thinking about exactly what you were going to say when you arrived. A simple hello or whatâs up would probably get something thrown at you. On the opposite side of the coin, breaking into some emotional monologue about how you felt lied to and how familyâs werenât supposed to do that to each otherâŚseemed a bit much. You could have that conversation with Sulpicia laterâŚor with Aro when he prowled through your thoughts.
âHere we are.â
Heidiâs voice pulled you from your thoughts as she stepped out before you. Holding out her hand, she took the bag that you were holding.
Stepping out of the car, you noticed Jane waiting for you. Jane stood with her typical neutral expression. You knew this was going to be another sore spot. While Jane was cold and sadistic to most, the two of you had forged some sort of friendship.
Once again, you were feeling incredibly selfish for the way that you had taken off. You hadnât put anyone elseâs feelings into mind when you left. Janes was never good at having or sharing feelings. When you gained her trust, she should have been someone that you talked to right awayâŚbut you didnât.
âY/n.â
She said casually. You nodded, hoping that you would get some form of a reaction out of Jane. It appeared that wasn't going to be the case. She stood looking like a pillar of stone, glaring angrily.
âJane, itâs nice to see you.â
You said softly as Heidi took her bag and walked inside. Jane only nodded
âIâm glad to see that you have come home. Were you able to work out what you needed to?â
You shrugged.
âI suppose so..you know what they sayâŚthere is no place like home.â
Jane nodded with a small hmm.
âThat is good news. Pity it only took you a year to figure it out. Aro wishes to see you right away. I think it would be best to get this over with as soon as possible.â
You moved to follow Jane toward the throne room.
âI figured as much. If he wasnât waiting I would be concerned.â
Jane walked in silence for a few moments before stopping. She turned to look at you once more.
âI do hope that you have figured out whatever it is that you need to. You have hurt all of us.â
You frowned.
âHow do you think that I felt, Jane? I thought my parents were dead. I found out that I was abandoned and lied to.â
Jane sighed.
âWe are all lied to at some point. You were lucky that your mother and father left you with an aunt and uncle that cared about you.â
Jane gave you another cold look before pushing the door to the throne room open.
Taking a few deep breaths, you knew that it was time to get this over with.
The moment you walked into the room Aro was on his feet with a smile on his face.
âMy darling!â
He said cheerfully before appearing in front of you with Supilcia at his side.
âIt's good to see you dear.â
Supilicia said, matching Aroâs tone. For the next few seconds both aunt and uncle took turns turning your face to theirs, talking a million miles a moment. You knew that Aro was pawing his way through your thoughts, checking to see if there was any damage that he would need to deal with. He didnât care what it was; if someone caused you any pain, he was sending Felix after them.
âUh, you both are kind of hurting my face.â
You whimpered. The moment Aro let go over your face, you opened and closed your mouth a few times before letting your eyes fall to Marcus. Your other uncle gazed at you with quiet concern. If he had made much of a fuss, you would have been surprised. He would talk to you later when Aro wasnât hovering around like a giant annoying fly.
Your eyes turned to Caius, and as you suspected, he looked angry.
Yep, heâs annoyed,
You thought as Aro regained your attention.
âItâs good to see you, darling. We are so glad you are home and in one piece.â
Aro murmured the last part as he held out a strand of your hair, looking for any signs of damage. You sighed, feeling like a lab rat.
âI promise, Iâm fine. Iâm glad to see both of you as well. Iâm glad to be home.â
Aro thankfully looked pleased with his nieceâs admission. It was hard for him to simply âlet goâ for a year. After spending all of these years watching over you, he couldnât help but feel paternal/
âWonderful. I hope you realize this is where you belong. You belong with your family.â
You weren't sure if that was a threat or Aro being your protective uncle. Either way, you could tell by the look in his eyes that Aro wasnât the least bit amused with her actions. If he followed her around for the next few years, she wouldn't be surprised.
âYes, I do. It wasnât what I expected.â
Aro hummed in agreement before leaning down to kiss your forehead once again
âThe human world is a mess, as I told you, darling. Oh, look at the time. Weâll catch up soon. I have business to attend to.â
Aro patted your cheek before walking out with Sulpicia behind him. Marcus was the next to stand up. He gave his niece a small nod before leaving.
You waited until Caius stood before turning to face him. Caius hadnât moved. His red eyes remained locked on you as if he were searching for anything different. You weren't sure how you would win him over, but you had to try. Did you love him? Yes. You hadnât stopped loving Caius.
It didnât care about how Aro considered the two of you the odd couple. Yes, you were different, and that wouldnât change. Caius wasnât kind. He was downright brutal while you (according to your Aunt Sulpicia) were uncommonly kind. Aro called it the âDidyme traitâ that you had inherited.
âHe just quoted The Little Mermaid at me.â
You murmured as Caius crossed his arms over his chest. He didnât have time for your humor at the moment. He needed answers of his own.
âWell, what do you have to say for yourself?â
You frowned.
âI suppose I could ask you the same. You havenât contacted me in a year. I gave you a cell phone.â
Caius rolled his eyes. It wasnât his turn to answer questions. He was where he needed to be. You were the one that vanished while he was away.
âI donât like the stupid useless technology.â
You fought the urge to smirk.
âCaius, youâre making yourself sound old.â
âI am old. This conversation isnât about me. I turn around and you run away for a year. I know why, so I donât need an excuse for some human feeling.â
You pressed your lips together and tried to think on how to respond.
âI wouldnât still be a human if you would have changed me.â
Caius frowned before scoffing.
âAnd if you had been changed before you took off, I would be looking as bad as Marcus. You're lucky that I donât snap your head off of your shoulders.â
You werenât at all surprised by that comment. That was typical Caius.
âYou wouldnât. I know how you feel about me. You can deny it all you want but I know the truth. You deserved more than me running. I wish I could give you a better excuse but I canât. What I can tell you is I have no interest in being with the humans.â
Caius smirked before his face darkened.
âForgive me for not believing you. Marcus may still see our bond but it is going to take a lot for me to ever consider marrying you now.â
âI know I hurt youâŚâ
âI never said that I was hurt!â
Caius snapped. You sighed before moving closer.
âYou are and you donât have to put up a tough front for me. Iâm sorry for what I did. I should have said something to you, especially after Athenadora left the way that she did.â
Caius growled, hearing his ex-lover's name. As angry as he was at you, he didnât want to hear her name leave your angel lips.
âDonât bring her into this.â
Caius snapped. His eyes dropped to your face. He wanted nothing more than to get his arms around youâŚand never let you go again. The pride within himself prevented him from doing that, however.
âCaius, Iâm trying to apologize here.â
Caius held a hand up.
âYouâre doing a shitty job of it. Leave me alone, Y/n.â
Caius didnât give you a moment to reply before vanishing from the room without another word.

The Stars Beneath Us - by EngineeringBlondie [an error sans x reader fic]
Not my usual Sun and Moon post, but I just wanted to share this short animatic draft I made based on a fic that's very dear to me.
It's pretty rough, and some parts are change, sorry hhh. I just wanted to get this scene out of my system and animate it with my current favorite song because it fits the vibe so well, i haven't been able to stop thinking about this fic for weeks now. There's not much error x reader fics i found but if your looking for one, I definitely recommend reading this hhhh
@its-ellihere (idk if i tagged right) but thankyou for writing such an amazing fic â¤ď¸
HIIII can you help me find a fanfic that is a Wednesday x male reader? the plot that i remember is that the mreader is a half blood vampire and his dad doesnt like him cuz the mom died of birthing him but it wasnt his fault cuz they knew the risks of it. He likes wednesday and got the personality of flirtations AND he has a pet bat that is a girl. in the end of the chapter is that he got into a coma, after the fight and he has a baby bat in his arms given by wednesday. His enemies are like his old friend that is a girl that was presumed dead but isnt and she uses a sickle i think. AND THATS ALL I GOT đđđđ and its in wattpad too.
If you know the name of this fic, comment in the notes, as a reblog or an ask :)
If you have the link, much appreciated; if not and you only know the name that's also okay.
If you don't know the fic, please reblog. It helps :) thanks
