Spencer may not have ordered Albert’s death like he did with Bailey and Marcus, but he controlled his and all the children in the Wesker Project’s lives almost completely. He saw them indoctrinated into his views, controlled their education and upbringing, and ultimately had them infected with the Progenitor Virus which would kill all the Project children spare Albert and Alex. Even then, Albert was the only one to walk out of Progenitor unscathed; Alex’s body began to slowly deteriorate.

Spencer defied the Project children. He cost them their true families, their free will, and ultimately their lives. It is perhaps his worst betrayal, to take innocent life and corrupt and twist it as he saw fit. Zeno’s ‘us’ refers to all the children, but most specifically Albert and Alex. The price he paid was Wesker assassinating him in RE5’s Lost in Nightmares DLC.

So why does that matter to Zeno?

Who is Zeno, really?

Zeno is clearly a clone of Albert Wesker, down to the way he moves. Yet there are clear visual inconsistencies between Zeno and Albert:

For one, looking at facial structure, Zeno’s nose looks more like Jack Krauser’s, almost as if his DNA was added to Albert’s to fill in gaps. (Psst! Perhaps gaps from having one’s corpse recovered from the bottom of a volcano!)

The next glaring visual difference to me is how Zeno styles himself compared to Albert. Albert is most commonly dressed in darker blues and blacks, while Zeno seems to have a mix of black and white in his wardrobe. Revelations 2 helped us associate white with Alex Wesker:

Zeno’s coat and pants remind me a lot of Alex’s suit. Which leads me to wonder if instead of The Connections, it was Alex who cloned Albert to create Zeno.

We know she mourned him. We know that a full decade before Mother Miranda attempted to use Rose to bring back Eva, Alex was able to use a similar process to successfully transfer her consciousness into the body of Natalia Korda to keep from dying to Progenitor. I can imagine now that she knows it works, she would attempt to bring back her brother in a similar way. This would require rescuing his corpse from the volcano for DNA, and filling in the remaining gaps where she could with the two corpses she theoretically still has on hand: Jack Krauser and Steve Burnside.

However as Albert’s DNA sample is incomplete, her brother is doomed to an imperfect host. Unless…

What’s going to happen in the RE9 story DLC?

At the end of her campaign in RE6, Sherry remarks that if anyone finds out about Jake Mueller’s parentage, the consequences would be far reaching and extreme. If Alex were to somehow find out about Jake being Wesker’s biological son, and therefore having half his DNA, she would be motivated to find him and use what she could from his DNA to build a ‘perfect’ host to bring back her brother.

I could see the RE9 Story DLC going something like this:

Jake, Jill, Rebecca, and maybe Ada somehow end up teaming up to either find or synthesize a cure for Raccoon City Syndrome on their own while Sherry and Leon are finding Elpis. Jake, being the only unaffected by RCS goes searching through old Umbrella labs and files to find any info on something to combat advanced stages of RCS to buy them time. As he’s doing this, he finds himself in a lab that’s not entirely abandoned and is found by Alex, who notices the resemblance to her late brother. (Note Natalia is roughly 25-26 at this time, so she’s visibly old enough to perhaps be taken seriously by The Connections and given a lab). She kidnaps him and sequences his DNA.

Meanwhile Jill, Rebecca, and Ada have lost contact with him and have to report this to Leon and Sherry, even though they are successful in creating a cure. Leon and Sherry are forced to share who Jake really is. Thus begins the five year search for Jake Muller.

Thoughts on what a RE Veronica DLC could look like:

REVeronica is supposed to include more detail on Albert’s backstory, I am hoping this means we will be reintroduced to Alex and she’ll be given more expansion as well.

As for the DLC, I know a lot of people want an adaptation of Operation Javier, but I feel since it includes both Krauser and Leon it would be best placed with RE4R. Instead I’d like to see an adaptation of either Alex’s section from Revelations 2 (and remind us of her figuring out the consciousness transfer) or have us play as Albert when he gives Steve Burnside’s corpse to Alex.

Whatever CAPCOM decides to do, I am excited to see REVeronica! I think it’s going to be a phenomenal game.

What’s going to happen in RE10?

We haven’t seen Albert’s body yet, and I think that’s extremely important. I think RE10 will either give us finally a view of it or…

If rumors are true and Claire is the main protagonist of RE10, then I think it would make sense for Alex to be the main antagonist. If Albert is Chris’s rival, Alex is hers.
