on account of will being in vancouver, can we talk about RJ's little crush/idolism of will and also aiden's apparent dislike?
in my mind, after the first time mack played will he came home talking about him and how he played over the course of dinner, which isn't entirely unusual, but what was unusual was every time he played him after that he continued to talk about will and how he was such a frustrating player to play against, and during the steel vs ntdp days it wasn't too bad because aiden only heard about it when they called but then during college mack was like Obsessed and literally weeks before and after a BC vs BU game he'd be talking about will and then after they got drafted will became all that mack talks about so after several years of this aiden is sooooo over hearing about will fucking smith and how great he is, but RJ thinks the world of mack, and mack thinks the world of will so RJ absorbs everything mack says and then he actually gets to play with will and omg will is even better in person and sharing the ice with him is so fun and aiden can't be mean to his baby brother, he's just a kid, it's not his fault that stupid blond fuck is both pretty and amazing at hockey plus mack is always talking him up, so after several dinners of mack breathing in will's air and RJ asking will for ten million pieces of advice aiden very begrudgingly adds him on insta because if his two little brothers are going to be obsessed with this idiot he needs to keep an eye on him (the first post he sees is the fourth of july post and it takes every ounce of his will power not to comment about will being an american idiot)
i kinda find rj’s hockey crush on will kinda funny icl. like it just is i’m sorry… i don’t personally fall under the idea that aiden dislikes or ever did dislike will personally, but i know a lot of people do think that! i think he was just like unfamiliar with will up until now :]
mack is rambling about will and how much he dislikes will so often his parents and siblings are all debating getting him a therapist because… buddy, that’s… not normal… aiden’s annoyed by all the talk about will, but he doesn’t have too much against the kid other than playing against him. now it’s just that mack talks so highly of him he’s not so sure what to do. rj is mini mack, so of course he idolizes will. he made a canva poster of will and printed it out to put on the back of his door. and one for his wall. oh and one above his bed. no worries! it’s not weird haha! WILL DON’T GO IN THERE. after hours and hours of watching his brothers hang with will, he decides it’s not a bad idea to follow him. he just wants to make sure mack is in good hands and that rj has a good influence
