One of my favorite things about Remarkably Bright Creatures - surprisingly the movie even more so than the book - is that Tova seems to consider Cameron her grandson long before she finds out that he's literally her grandson. She instinctively decides to look out for him because he's lost and has no one, and she knows he needs her. She makes cleaning solution for his van. She shows him how to clean the aquarium properly and teaches him how to handle Marcellus. She gets him out of a parking ticket. She listens to him talk about his life when nobody else really has before. She nags him about asking Avery out on a date and then arranges the date herself when he keeps dragging his feet. She encourages him to play at open mic night and then shushes the bar patrons because "damn it that's my boy shut up and listen to him!!!!" No matter what she would've continued treating him like family because from the moment they met, he was family to her. Finding out they were related all along is just an added bonus

Something incredibly beautiful about Marcellus making Tova realize she should not leave her home resulting in Cameron being able to come home and Marcellus being able to go home.
