Brian inviting Barry over to hang out since they havenât seen each other since Barry left, and since Brianâs been busy, he doesnât look at the calendar. And Brian ends up transforming in front of Barry
Barry got up from the couch and walked towards the kitchen. Â
âIâm gonna get something to drink. Â Want anything?â Â
Brian shook his head, his eyes focused on the tv screen. Â Trying to figure out the puzzle they had run into.
âNaw, Iâm good.â Â He said.
Barry shook his with a smile and walked out.
He was at Brianâs house Just hanging out. Â Brian had called him up out of the blue and asked if he wanted to spend time together. Â
Barry agreed, having not seen any of his friends in a while since he had moved on in his career.
It had been quite an adjustment. Spending so much time with all of his friends and former co-workers every day, to hardly seeing them at all.
He and Brian just sitting on the couch and playing different games  and just catching up with each otherâs lives. Â
Barry was having such a good time, that he was already thinking of calling up Arin and Suzy to see if they had any upcoming free time.
Opening up the refrigerator, Barry pulled out a pitcher and poured himself a glass of tea.
Leaning against the counter, he looked around the kitchen as he sipped from his glass.
He frowned as his eyes paused on the wall near the window.
âWhatâs up?â Â Brian called from the living room. Â
Barry stepped closer to the wall, tilting his head in confusion as he stared at the calendar.
âWhy do you have last yearâs calendar still up?â Â He asked.
There was a beat of silence before he heard some rustling and Brian came rushing into the kitchen.
Barry watched as Brian yanked the calendar off the wall and stared at it. Â His eyes wide and breathing becoming labored.
Dropping the calendar, Brian grabbed his phone off of the counter and began typing as if in a near panic.
âBrian?â Â Barry questioned, the concern clear in his voice.
Brian didnât answer. Â He eyes fixated on the small screen of his phone.
ââŚShit.â  He swore.  His voice barely above a whisper. Â
His head suddenly snapped up and Barry had to suppress the urge to flinch at the wild slightly unfocused gaze, now on him.
âYou werenât at the office when I changed, where you?â Â He asked.
Barry looked at him with a dumbfounded expression.
âWhat? Â Changed? Â What the hell are you talking about, Brian?â
âBarry, you have to leave. Â Now!â Â Brian said putting his phone down and grabbing Barryâs arm.
âWhoa! Â Hold on, Brian. Â Whatâs going on? Â Why do I have to leave?â
Brian didnât reply. Â Instead he glanced towards the microwave, looking at the digital numbers.
He then looked down at his hands and gasped audibly. Â Barry followed his gaze, his eyes widening in surprise.
Brianâs hand was covered in fur.
âShit! Shit! Shit!â Â Brian said through gritted teeth. Â
He turned and ran out of the kitchen.
âCall Danny!â Â He yelled over his shoulder.
Barry just stared at where his friend had just been. Â Barely reacting when he heard a door down the hallway slam shut.
What the fuck was going on?
Barry hesitated a moment. Â Torn between going after Brian and calling Dan.
Brian had seemed panicked. Â And what was up with his hand?
Making his decision, Barry picked up Brianâs phone and sent a quick text to Dan.
Putting the phone back down, Barry walked over to the window and peered outside.
It was already dark and the moon was up. Â Full and bright in the sky.
Barry stared at the moon, his mind wondering. Â Thinking back to Brianâs behavior.
Barry stepped back, looking towards the hall Brian had ran down.
Curiosity getting to him, Barry found himself standing outside of Brianâs closed bedroom door.
He knocked lightly on it.
There was no reply. Â Barry wondered if Brian had heard him. Â He raised his hand to knock again.
Just before his knuckles made contact, a low rough voice filled the silence.
âWho there?â Â It said.
Barry frowned. Â That sounded nothing like Brian. Â Was someone else in there.
âUm. Â Itâs me, Barry.â Â He answered.
âBarry.â Â The voice repeated. Â Itâs tone sounding curious.
âBarry.â Â It said once more. Â âBarry put in. Barry float burger. Â Barry wolfjob.â
Barry continued to stare at the closed door. Â What in the world was going on. Â It sounded like a kid telling him how to edit or something.
âBarry roommate. Â Barry, Danny friend.â Â
Despite the unfamiliar voice. Â The simple words sounded more like Brian.
Taking hold of the doorknob, he twisted it. Â
Brian must have forgotten to lock it.
Barry carefully pushed the door open and looked in the room.
Everything looked normal except for the pile of torn clothes in the middle of the floor.
Clothes, Barry couldnât help but notice were the same ones that Brian had been wearing earlier.
A sound drew his eyes to the cracked door of the attached bathroom.
Barry turned towards the door. Â Watching with baited breath as the door opened an inch further.
âYou. Danny friend? Â Good person?â Â The voice asked.
Barry swallowed thickly, seeing the thick, fur covered fingers gripping the edge of the door.
âYeah. Â Iâm Danâs friend. Â Your friend too.â
He heard a rough exhale of air.
âYes. Â Barry friend.â
Barryâs eyes widened, as he stared in shock at the large wolf-like creature stepping carefully into the room.
It practically towered over Barryâs shorter frame. Â Thick grayish and white fur covered its body. Â A long thick tail hung behind it on the floor. Â
Barry fought the urge to turn tail and run.Â
Having a stray thought that his friend was a werewolf and having it confirmed was two different things and he was having trouble wrapping his head around it.
Despite his whirlwind of thoughts, Barry knew that the creature before him was Brian. Â The blue eyes were a dead giveaway. Â Not to mention the thick fur atop his head was parted in a similar fashion to Brianâs usual hairstyle.
âOkay?â Â Brian asked, having stopped just outside the bathroom door.
Barry then noticed the hunched, tense position and the tail pulled forward between the thick legs.
Brian was nervous. Â Not sure how Barry would react.
Barry took a deep breath and stepped forward, watching Brianâs ears twitch, blue eyes following every movement.
âThis um, is quite the surprise. Â A werewolf, huh?â
Brian nodding, crouching down onto the floor. Â Making himself look as non-threatening and small as possible. Â
Barry appreciated the gesture, moving closer, until he could place a trembling hand atop his head.
Brian closed his eyes, feeling the fingers running through his thick fur.
âAmazing.â Â Barry breathed out, bringing up his other hand, reveling in the soft texture.
âAnd let me guess. Â This happened In London?â Â He asked jokingly.
Brian lifted his head, meeting Barryâs eyes. A slightly annoyed gleam in them.
âYouâre kidding?â Â
Brian just shrugged. There was no point in dragging Barry any further into his issues. Â He had Dan, Arin and sometimes Ross for all of that.
âIt okay? Not mad?â Â He asked instead.
âFor you not telling me? Â No of course not. Â But Iâm guessing Iâm the last to know?â
âChanged at office. Â Others see. Â Accident. I sorry.â
Barry shook his head, leaning forward and wrapping his arms around the broad shoulders, pressing his face into the soft fur.
âDonât be. Â I understand.â
âââââââââââââââ-
Dan jumped out of his car and ran up the driveway. Â He winced seeing Barryâs car parked on the curb.
Quickly pulling out his keys, he unlocked the front door and rushed inside.
âBrian! Barry! Â Where are you?â Â He called out.
âIn here, Dan.â Â A voice, Dan recognized as Barryâs, said coming from down the hall.
Dan came to a stop just outside Brianâs bedroom. Â He felt a wave of relief wash over him as he took in the scene before him.
There on Brian bed, Barry sat, leaning back against the headboard and Brianâs large body curled up next to him. Â His head resting on Barryâs lap, whose hand was softly combing through his fur.
Dan smiled walking into the room. Â Brianâs ears perked up and his tail began to wag but he didnât move from his position on Barry. Â
âDanny! Â Danny here! Â Barry know now.â
Dan laughed, taking a seat beside them, lifting a hand and joining Barryâs in petting Brianâs head.
âI see that.â Â Dan answered.
âSorry for not telling you before. Guess it slipped our mind.â
âItâs okay. Iâm kinda outside the circle now. Â You know doing my own thing.â
âMiss Barry. Â Lots.â Brian mumbled. âWish see more.â
Barryâs eyes softened. Â Leaning down, he pressed a kiss to Brianâs snout.
He then looked up to Dan.
âI miss all of you. Â Think I should drop by more often.â
âIâm sure nobody would have a problem with that. Â Weâve all missed you, Barry.â
Barry looked back down at Brian, seeing his expression of content.
âYeah, I think Iâll do that.â
