still cant believe marvel gave us a scene where a guy with perfect hair gazes adoringly at a superhero and asks him questions about "having it both ways" and then the hero dives headfirst through a truck windshield to protect the perfect hair guy and clings to his arm delicately while they fight their way to safety. like. HELLO

thinking a lot about matt saying "it's not me, it's them" about friends risking being near him and like... ray is that type! ray is someone who stays! he got in so deep with fisk because he didnt want to even begin to risk his family, he kept trying to trust and defend and appeal to dex until the end... ray would keep coming back to matt. matt is a safe place for ray, someone who understands and isnt so easily at risk, someone he can be honest with, ray envies matt's fierce heart and wants to be someone who will reward him for it. there's this ongoing thing in s3 where people are told that matt needs them to hold on and to resist his attempts to pull away and it's true that some people need that and deserve it but it can be so hard to give!! like, it's fucking hard for karen and she doesnt deserve to be expected to reach out when matt continually treats her like shit. he doesn't act that way with ray and it's something that's easier for ray, his natural instinct, to chase after people and opportunities to help them be okay. it's okay for matt to need that extra assurance when it's from someone who wants to provide it and it's clear that ray really, really wants to
