the marquise hiring winsweep to design the harpy express and thus working so closely with him that they participate in an affair over the course of the train’s creation. after the train is finished however the marquise ends the affair and distances herself from winsweep because of the class difference and basically just wanting to wash her hands of any connection between them—it was simply a fling for her after all. that’s why winsweep was so suggestive the entire train journey, why he followed her closely, why he seems to chase even a scrap of her affection while the marquise is cold and keeping him at arm’s length. anyways they most definitely fall back into bed together during the train journey as a result of a mixture of habitual passion, the long ride, and the building tension in the atmosphere. anyways there’s no love between them just lust
