RAROG’s Polymer Belt Links

Back in July we looked at polymer belt links developed for PK series machine guns made by a Ukrainian company, the Kharkiv Plant of Individual Means of Protection / RAROG. Now we have some more clips and information on their current projects. The RAROG belts are disintegrating and significantly lighter than standard PK belts.

The Raróg [Slavic mythology]

Everyone knows what a Phoenix is, but it turns out the concept of a fiery bird is found in many civilizations throughout the world. In Slavic mythology, for example, there is the Raróg, a magical flaming bird. The details vary between different regions: in Czech folklore, if you incubate an egg on a hot stove for 9 days and nights, it will hatch into a fiery Raróg.

The Czech Raróg is also sometimes depicted as a dragon or dragon-like creature. In Polish mythology, the Raróg is not a large beast but a tiny little bird that brings people happiness.

In Slavic mythology, the Raróg is a fire demon that resembles a flaming falcon. Mythology about the demon varies from culture to culture. In Czech folklore, it is said to hatch from an egg warmed on a stove for nine days and nights, while in Polish folklore, it can be kept in one's pocket and bring happiness.

A caldera on Jupiter's moon Io is named Rarog Pater.
