I would love it if it was Stacey Abrams. I mean, if we’re going to have yet another fucking old white man in the presidency, America should at least join the 21st century and bring a qualified, passionate, progressive, woman into the vice presidency.

But I pick VPs with my heart, because there’s nothing at stake for me, and I know that a campaign has to pick with its head, to lock up a swing state, for example, so I think there’s a nonzero chance someone like Castro, or maybe Beto, if Texas is actually looking purple. 

    That’s a really good point– Matt had already been inactive as DD for a while pre-Defenders. But there were a few chances for people to catch him in action later. It’s tough to tell if there were any witnesses to the fight in the restaurant in Episode 5 (when Matt and Jessica rescue Trish), but it’s possible someone could have caught a glimpse of him there. At the very least, someone must have seen him strolling around town in Episode 7. NYC is full of people at night. There’s no way to be subtle about something like this. 

    (We always laugh about the framing of this shot, which makes it look like Matt stripped down and changed in the middle of the street. Which, for the record, is something comics Matt has done…)

    Thus, the public may have had some confirmation that DD was still around prior to the explosion– though of course, they could easily interpret his “death” as just another period of inactivity, and nothing to be concerned about. And yes, it’s likely that his friends all came up with some explanation for Matt’s pre-death disappearance (if only to avoid being charged with murder)… but if someone did see DD power-walking around with Jessica and Luke in the scene above, we think that would still raise a whole bunch of uncomfortable questions for everyone involved.  

    Yes! That has to be an intentional callback. Love it!

    Oooooh, maybe! That would be awesome. Yeah, we got the same vibe-- that she was likely there either more than once or for an extended period of time. That would be an amazing explanation for it.  

   Since we’re on the topic, let’s talk a little bit about women in MCU K’un-Lun, because that’s something we found a little intriguing/confusing about the show’s worldbuilding. 

    First of all, we’d originally been assuming that in this universe, K’un-Lun had been shrunk from a city to a monastery-- because that’s the context in which it’s always described in the show. In the Empire Magazine article that came out a few weeks ago, it was specifically stated to be an “all-male monastery”-- which is consistent with the flashbacks we get from Danny’s time there. We therefore spent most of the season assuming they’d sidestepped the gender divide concept by removing women from K’un-Lun entirely.

    However...

    Where is this village? Is it part of the monastery? Next to it? Maybe K’un-Lun is still a larger society, but the monastery where Danny trained is all that’s mentioned because it’s the most relevant bit? Where is the square Madame Gao talks about? What is the geographic layout of this place? We can’t keep squinting at this!
