"You’ll always be my very best boy."

One of the most famous episodes of 𝑺𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒅, the 1993 episode 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒖𝒇𝒇𝒚 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒕, features Jerry accidentally agreeing to wear a ridiculous designer shirt on 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒘. The shirt became so iconic that it now resides in the Smithsonian.   Julian, a commenter on the Smithsonian’s website, claimed the shirt was made by the brand H20 for a Hollywood Boulevard shop called Antenna, inspired by Prince’s 𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏 look, and that he himself sold it to the show’s stylist.   But 𝑺𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒅 may not have been this costume’s only TV moment. In 1994, the same shirt design shows up on 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓, worn by David Hyde Pierce as Niles in 𝑨 𝑴𝒊𝒅-𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎. Was it the exact same shirt? We can’t be certain, but a few clues suggest it...   Both shows were on NBC, and costumes often moved between productions. After 𝑺𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒅, the shirt could easily have been placed in stock and reused for a simple pirate costume request on 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓. It seems far more likely that the wardrobe team pulled it from NBC’s costume collection than tracked down another copy from Antenna.   What do you think? Let us know at Bit.ly/SciFi042
