Right lads... i know we're all about spreading the love for Tales of the TMNT because we don't want to make the same mistake we did with Rise BUT....... I am bothered. I am bothered by how they handled Raph's anger issues and it kinda pissed me off. Straight up 03 and 12 had it down pretty much. So what do i mean by this... welllll THEY DID HIM DIRTY! The way you handle kids with anger issues in the media is supposed to be like a thing of self discovery, apologising for our outbursts, finding a better outlet, asking for help, understanding "why do I feel this way", someone else recognising that this kid is not ok etc etc Leo, Mikey and Donnie seem to get Raph's anger and his love of fighting mixed up. They are not the same thing at all! One of the best outlets for kids with anger issues is martial arts, heck even the series showed Raph feeling way better after his matches even saying he feels like he's a better brother thanks to it. But that's just what? Taken away? The mutant fight ring is allll bad, his trainer was literally a purple dragon, they prove him wrong. Because fighting and liking fighting is wrong. Like yes the situation was dodgy but that's so unfair. What even was the lesson in the end of Raphs arc like genuinely?? And then the episodes after that you have Leo goin "what did we talk about with you and your love of fighting" like what? are you kidding? and Leo is just a hypocrite with the whole Dark Ninja shtick. So is the lesson that he shouldn't have his outlet in any capacity? That's so shit like i genuinely feel bad for him. This Raph is different from 12 and 03 in that they're not like genuine teenagers who have access to normal human shit. 03 Raph has an existential thing where he sees the error of his anger problems and that he should never take it out on others but he's never told he like couldn't keep fighting? or not enjoy fighting? To use it to channel his rage? Tales of TMNT Raph is like as real as a teenage mutant ninja turtle is gonna get and he wasn't given his outlet and was just shut down for it. I just don't rly like that. And yes Raph was hurting people in his wrestling group but no one just like.. i dunno sat him down and helped him understand that he should learn to control his strength? I grew up with a lot of problem children (me included) and martial arts such as karate, kick boxing and boxing changed some peoples lives, set them straight like genuinely. It gave violent kids a purpose and a road to stay on.
