and just out of curiosity do you have any pet peeves when it comes to preg fics?
Surprisingly, I don't have much relating to pregnancy writing aside from just remembering that your character is pregnant and depending how far along they are, there are different symptoms they'll be going through like morning sickness in the 1st trimester, but honestly pregnancy is such a wild experience that there are a lot of things that can just happen.
What personally helps me with that is just researching any questions I have like "what does kicking feel like" or "what causes this or that" and Reddit is where I find a lot of useful answers, mainly from comments from people who have actually gone through it along with professionally sourced articles that can put some truth behind certain claims.
And as for pet peeves, honestly I don't like it when some people romanticize everything about a pregnancy especially when it happens out of negative circumstances (i.e. rape, incest, young teenagers, etc) or even just saying that pregnancy is a 100% magical thing. Like yes, most people who are expecting can be attached to their baby and be happy, but don't act like there still isn't a lot of struggle and pain that goes into it even without negative circumstances. Some people go through post partum depression and so many other things, but they're often ignored or put down for it and everytime I think about it just pisses me offfff. Almost makes me wanna give every fic an abortion chapter rahhhhhh!!!!
