turned that ugly baby into something precious...
I drew these like three weeks apart, hence the minor design differences. Anyway, the blue power suit is based on this design by goozeghost. I love Booster’s short-lived asymmetrical power suit, and the blue suits Rani so well.
Regarding the two different designs:
Rain arrives in like the late 2040s-early 50s in a time sphere while wearing the relatively unaltered Goldstar suit and a Booster Gold(TM) cropped bomber jacked and unabashedly pretends to have no idea who Booster Gold is. This is her initial appearance.
Then, I have this very specific scenario written down where Rani gets an updated power suit. As Booster’s daughter, she’s inevitably getting dragged into time travel shenanigans. One notable moment is coming across and helping a mid-20 y/o Rip Hunter and his time master (1990) friends (specifically Jack Soo, who created the original Goldstar suit). Jack recognizes the suit and is introduced to Rani as Rip older’s sister. This whole event was some sort of major shift in Rani’s character and the dramatic change in suit design reflects that etc etc etc.

Kid Flash: I didn’t mean the jacket.
Gold Star: I found the jacket in the trash.
I’ve had this idea in my head for a while. It’s after the reveal that she’s from the future, but she’s still trying to maintain some semblance of a secret identity. She’s very good at acting obtuse in the same way Booster was good at acting like a fool. Everyone knows it’s at least somewhat an act, but how much of it is?
I also chose to use Irey here because she’s one of only a handful of heroes I know that are in the same generation as Rani that has an adult design. I took some inspiration from the design and altered it a bit to look more Kid Flash-esque. She’s actually a few years older than Rani (18), but she’s the current Kid Flash… or at least in the early stages of transitioning away from Kid Flash. This AU isn’t 1:1 with the comics, so there’s a different kind of age fuckery and multiverses crises going on in this earth’s history. Wally and Linda got to raise the twins to an extent here.
Also also… In this earth, there was a government initiative to remove all superheroes from written record. While it wasn’t exactly successful, by the 22nd century, Booster Gold and most of the non-A-list heroes from the 20th century had faded out of natural memory in the aftermath. Rani isn’t lying about finding that jacket in the trash. It’s still her prized possession.
