Theres a girl (because your protagonist is usually a boy) who is pretty. And excited to spend time for you. Shes like super friendly, once you get past the minor wall of nonchalance she tries to put up in the first few.
There is a catch.
If you ask her out, her social link reverses.
Because she trusted you. She wanted to be your friend, without any ulterior motives. And she likes spending time with you, talking with you, but was not intrested in dateing you, and became worried when you asked her out that all the time spent was to build up to that.
And it's happened before that people only spent time with her cause they wanted to date her, and she really hoped you were diffrent. She likes you as a friend, but not as a boyfriend.
Thats of course only revealed if you work to upright her social link.
Or later in the social link, if you never ask her out. With the later being the reveal that she appreciates that you only wanted to be her friend.
This of course prompts a question to ask her out. Say no and the link will max. Ask her if she's changed her mind about dating you over time and it will break.
Why? Because you missed the point. She just wants a friend. You spent all this time and money on eachother because you were friends. And you can accept that and keep the social link, or walk away from her and the connection you had with her.
-Why do I want this? Because I'm tired of the "every girl wants the protagonist" stick, and want one girl at least who spefically does not want the protagonist, and not for the reason that she's into someone else.
-She's pretty and nice and intrested because that builds its own history of this being a problem she has had before, and she tries to be nonchalant at first because this has happened before.
The protagonist is not the first friend of a diffrent gender who has walked away from her upon being friendzoned. And shes scared of it happening again, and then really hopefull when it looks like it won't be the case.
Why does gender have to make things complicated.
I think she would be a star.
- Would I ever expect to see this? No. Persona is so tropey, and anime coded that I wouldn't expect to see an aromamtic story well represnted in it. Or an extended exploration of problems with being a pretty girl.
Look at what they did with Ann.
But I can dream. And I think Persona would be a good series to represent this in, because it is a series with themes in psychology and bonds, and has social link reverse as a gameplay consequence for not paying attention to the psycological wants or needs of the other person.

Block C 25 Ghost Swap @fyeahghosttrick . From @allpatchedart -
Ghost trick has become a turn based RPG! What is the party composition and what are their classes?
I hope you don't mind me doing an analysis for this. I would say main Party Composition is Sissel, Lynne, and Missile, with the rest as roatating party members.
I'm also going to take a moment to plug the persona analysis I did for you this swap here as well, as no one seems to really be seeing it
💬 0 🔁 1 ❤️ 0 · Personas · Analysis for Ghost Swap @fyeahghosttrick
For Block C 26. @allpatchedart- Ghost Trick X persona crossover or AU.
Alright, Lets go!
I'm going start with easiest to hardest.
Jowd:- Warrior/Knight. Jowd has the highest stamina and pain tollorence of most of the characters in the game. Not only did he spend his non prison time chasing problems and people down, In the new timeline he stayed standing even after a metorite shard went through his leg, and didn't let it comprimise his aim. Thats the sort of guy you want protecting other party members, and dealing major damage. He is motivated by protection, and while that is a strength, it is also where Redacted hit to demotivate him. It wasn't just that he failed to protect his loved one, he chose to take the blame to protect his second loved one. He took the hit, so to say.
Sissel:- Healer. What does Sissel do in the game? He guarantees the survival of the party. Admitibly by undoing their death, which in a turned based RPG would mean casting a revive spell. While he also has a body count, those came from manipulation of environment. That could be elementalist, but depending on the RPG, its not as though your healer can't learn damaging spells.
Cabanela:- Bard/Dancer. I'm not giving him this class just because he is a good dancer, although that helps. I'm giving it to him because of how other people react to him. When he dances onto the scene, his people perk up, and straighten up. They want to make him happy with them. He has inspired them, raised their spirits and stats. He also has probably the highest charisma of any of the characters in the game, as expected for an authority figure who climbed his way up the ladder. In the past it was his demoralizing (debuffing) of Redacted into despair status that kicked off the inciting incident of the plot. I imagine he carrys a damaging weapon, as a veteran.
Missile:- Time Mage. Missile is a tricky one to figure out. As a dog he could have speed, tracking, physical attacks, ect. BUT Missile does not wish to harm people, not even the home invaders who killed him. Like all the ghost trick users, he does have a body count, but it was an accident and they reversed it. Unlike Sissel, we only saw him sucessfully undo one death, so we can't place him there as easily, even though I am putting the ghost trick users in the mage categories. So he doesn't want to hurt people, and hes not a natural healer, how about Buffing? Personally I can see Missile casting Haste all over the place.
Lynne:- Hunter. Lynne was the hardest of the core cast for me to decide on. Ultimatly I decided to base her class on her motivation in game. She was Seeking, Hunting for answers. Even as she died several times on the quest, she still attempted to Track. She even has a cool animal companion. He doesnt track, he casts. She has a surprisingly high will save, and likes to hide in small places.
The rest will be under the cut and are minor character and rotating ones
Pidgeon Man:- Scholar. In contrast to Lynnes hunt for knowlege as the destination, for this guy knowlege is the journey. From what little we see of him, hes got a good memory, making him a good person to know stats and weaknesses.
Kamila:- Engineer. She likes her contraptions. And that can translate into traps in a battle. I also have this thought of her riding a mech into battle to do damage.
Memry:- Thief. As the character who does the inflitration, I gotta give her the rouge typeing. I thought about Ninja, but I don't think shes at the point for class upgrade.
The rest of Cabanela's police force I'll probably put under soldiers or archers, as I don't know enough about their abilities to spec them.
Jailbird Rocker is of course a low level bard, and curry man a Chef.
We don't know enough about Alma or Sissel (fiance) to class them. Fan theory could put Alma as Thief for her Fanon Job as Cat burglar. I kind of want to Put Sissel as Fighter/ Swashbuckler because tbis campain doesn't have a lot of direct damage dealers, and that way I can parallel Sissel and Yomiel, with Alma and Jowd.
The Forginers I would put under Mechanists and Rouges as they are sneaking into the country, with the exception of Beauty who seems to be capable of detecting magic. Maybe a Diviner? Its hard to say, as theres not a lot of Data. Jeego and Tengo are Assassins, which fall under Rouge classes.
Redacted/Yomiel :- Mage/ Puppeteer. Its not a common player class, but it comes up often enough in RPGs and fantasy. It could be called Beguiler, Bodyjacker, Body thief. I choose puppeteer, because that is in essence what Yomiels body became to him in game. A puppet. Damage to his body didn't matter, it was invulnerable. Before he made the puppet body though, his fiance as his main damage dealer and distraction while he caused chaos among the enemy forces worked to me conceptually. Conjuration and Illusion specialist or Artificer could have also worked for his background in Programing. Of course he could class change when he became a puppet, and have remnients of his old class among his skillset.
Mechanically the lack of white mage, and specialized attackers might ecplain why the previous timeline failed. You have two buffers running around doing what they can, but the lack of knowledge about the puppeter means Yomiels strikes are taking out the opposition with impunity.
If they were to have Elemental attacks, heres what I would cast them.
Missile :- Light
Sissiel:- Lightning
Cabanela:- fire
Jowd:- water
Lynne:- wind
Yomiel:- Ice
*Some of them have deeper reasons then others. For instance, Missile as a ray of light, Cabanelas fire on the dancefloor being oppisite spectrum of both Yomiel and Jowd, that would neverless work well in a fight, electricity as both a force of harm and the classic fiction bring back to life. Yomiel frozen in time (Psychic attacks could also work), Lynne here to bring fresh wind to the investigation and new directions. Ect
** as a time mage, Missile can summon metorites if he's in final fantasy, which is not relevent but amuses me
Yomiel in the doomed timeline either messing with Cabanela or grappling with getting screwed over.
I went with the later option. Hope you enjoy!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Post Notes under the cut
How Missile got to Yomiel’s corpse is something I think about a lot. For this one the tracker was on the person of whoever Cabanela entrusted it to. Possibly Ringe or Memry.
Actually Ringe, Memry, Cabanela, and Missile working together to try to stop the foreigners plot in the first timeline could be an interesting idea.
Yomiel has been alternating between depression and plotting vengeance for ten years of death now. He didn't really have any reason to change his habits.
Missile saw Yomiels body and jumped at the opportunity. It worked. He hasn't had ten years to learn patience yet.
I don't actually know if Yomiel can make it out of the ocean with his body intact without the temsik. Maybe he could get most of it out if he's lucky with ocean tides or something. Or maybe he will get into a fish that gets caught by a bird and fly there as a seagull or something.
It is a beautiful day in a foreign country and Yomiel is now a horrible bird. Lol

For Block C 26. @allpatchedart Ghost Trick X persona crossover or AU.
Ok, I am excited about this one. First we want to decide what Persona game we are dealing with as there are diffrent classifiers pre p3 and after it.
But theres first a a question that should be adressed. Are they going to summon personas? To summon a Persona is an expression of tramua. A persona its self is a social mask. Tatemae as the Japanese might put it, from the phrase Honne and Tatemae.
Normal people don't go around summoning a persona. Tramuatized people often have trouble following social rules, because their brains are wired for survival, so perhaps that is why a person with Tramua can easily send off their persona to go fight deamons.
The P1-P2 cast have an easier time of it because they signed a contract, and then were put into danger (tramua) for it to manifest.
P3 represents this by the evoker, but they had potential in the first place because they have issues. P4 probably has the lightest requirements (probably because of TV world), mearly face a shadow version of yourself that represents everything of yourself that you are afraid to acknowledge.
P5 has you rip off the social mask that you wear, tearing it bloody from your face, and acknowlege Honne to rebel against society.
So what are their Tramuas, and how will that manifest against diffrent games. Are we changing the plot of the game to suit the ghost trick characters being able to summon? Are they interacting with Canon characters from that game? Are they NPCs following their own motives as the plot is going down?
I'll first talk about how the game plot could be reshaped to suit them being persona users. Then talk about them not being persona users.
So first I want to start with What I think would be hardest crossover. At least for me.
Persona 3 :- As much as Memento Mori could fit with Ghost trick, I don't know that I think it fits with the character beats of ghost trick as well as some of the other games. I'm not going to say it couldn't work, I can very well see Cabanela and Pidgeon Man doing studies about the dark hour and them fighting in it with the rest of the cast. I could see redacted giving into despair and fighting to end the world after his Fiance dies. Bigger threat then Strega, but then again Strega wasn't supposted to be a huge threat, lacking in determination as they were. Themes of Greek Tradagy don't Jive with them as much either to me.
As non persona users and just interacting with the P3 cast... I'll be honest I don't see why they are there beyond investigating the missing people cases ( some of who can be found in Tartarus).
Persona 5:- Redacted as someone in need of a change of heart, works. Or else he could be black mask equivalent. Alternatively Redacted's fiance as black mask or someone in need of a change of heart, with Redacted truley dead, or arrested on false charges and she's lashing out.
Ray as Metaverse guide could be cool. But are the characters of Ghost Trick rebeling against the rules of society? They act within the guidelines of the law, and those guidelines mean that- for official purposes of face- the curry man and the punk rocker are spending time in jail for crimes they did not commit, and do not look to be released any time soon. Lynne is acting outside of guidelines, but thats mostly because the case time for Jowd is almost up.
To write a convincing P5 crossover where the cast summons personas, you can't just character swap like you would for a clothing shoutout DLC. You have to change the story, characterization, backstory, or all enough to give the characters of Ghost Trick reasons to go above the law and make their own Justice. The characters of Ghost Trick are a pretty Cop heavy cast.
Of course a convincing story could be made of the Ghost Trick cast being non persona users, just cops, while the Phantom Thieves are doing their stuff. What would their opinions of the theives be? Perhaps some of them are investigating the Shido government conspiracy.
Persona 4:- This cop heavy cast of characters would be prime material for being on a murder investigation case. If they can cope from coming back from the dead, they can probably deal with other people seeing their shadows, with less grace perhaps then the former. Sissel could make a good character as a former shadow learning how to be human. Is Redacted the oposition instead of Adachi, or even Namatame? Or does he join the investigation team after his Fiance is murdered by the murderer.
Of course being Cops they don't actually need to get Personas to do investigation. And depending on when the writer wants to place it, they could be veterans or newbies.
Persona 1 :- I can see this having potential. Redacted agreeing to be part of an experiment with the foreigners, and creating another world where his fiance is alive, among other changes is one option.
Or maybe Jowd and Cabanela visiting Redacted in the hospital after he got hit by a metorite durring the chase scene to announce that he has been found not guilty. They get kicked out after an argument. Then Strange shit goes down, Zombies attack, and they discover they can summon personas
(They played the persona game on a whim with a bunch of officers, and signed contracts). They then go to investigate the damage, discover the strange alternitive universe variations, gather a party that includes Redacted who seemingly has no memory of them arguing, and his fiance, and investigate where this alternative world comes from, starting with the forgniers.
Even without Persona's, and with the P1 plots going off with Maki and the Snow queen showdowns, there could still be a good story about the Ghost Trick cast fighting deamons and protecting the townspeople while the invasion is going down.
Persona 2:- When I say "reset after a doomed timeline, with one person in the past who remembers the previous timeline, trying to make sure this time goes better" am I talking about Ghost Trick, or Persona 2 Eternal Punishment?
Redacted as a Joker, granting wishes, except to the Ghost Trick characters who he wishes to get revenge on. The cast investigating the masked circle or new world order. Or the cast starting out investigating the JOKER serial killing cases.
Lynne spreading a rumor of Jowds innocence to get him released before he gets executed. In fact the cast creating and investigating rumors could be a lot of fun.
The forginers repleacing or as rivals to the Taiwanese Mafia. Or maybe they are secretly deamons in this one, preparing for an invasion SMT style.
They could be persona summoners, they could be regular people squaring up to deamons with weapons, hell some of them could be devil summoners. It wouldn't make too much diffrence. Ghost trick equivalent abilities could be given to characters through the power of rumors.
They could be doing the original Ghost trick investigation plot and motives, and have it shaped in different directions by the power of rumors rumors, and it would go down well in Sumaru city.
Anything can go when rumors shape reality.
I'm now going to put a cut, and below I'll discuss Arcana, and other finer details. Spolier warnings for use of Redacted's name
So Arcana in Persona are indicators of personality, and character arc. In P1&P2s characters had multiple Arcana listed for them. It let you infer character traits about characters, and more importantly determined your summoning ability. See, unlike in later games, P1&P2 let you swap personas for characters other than your main. Affinity determined how good a character was at using a each arcana.
Theres also the possibility of an Arcana being in reverse. That has less to do with gameplay and more to do with range of character arc throughout the game.
A character who starts in reverse is going to have a an arc that involves more character growth then starting upright. Not that they cant have character devolopment, but a character who starts from a place of being an asshole becoming a better person is going to show more change then a character who is supportive bestie throughout the experiance. Of course being supportive bestie could be an excellent place to put a emotional drain and talk about that. Depends on the focus of the story really.
Of the characters in ghost trick, Yomiel has the highest likelihood of unlocking a persona, should you want to have a persona using ghost trick character. Of course you don't nesscairly need it. But here goes.
He was emotionally broken by Cabenela before escaping and then chased by a gun weilding cop. Intense emotional distress followed by feeling life is in danger would do the trick, assuming he had signed a contract in the past. Any point in the past, after all most of the P2 cast had signed their contracts years before being put in the Persona summoning danger threshold.
Mitsuru's backstory seems to imply that a contract is not needed to do it in a moment of danger, but they then go on to create evokers to do it reliably, so the contract being in place seems to make summoning a more accessable option.
Of course she could have played the game and signed the contract somewhere in her past as a child. I wonder if the radio dramas would shead any light on that. I should look into that sometime.
Anyways, Lynne is likliest to summon hers as a child if the hostage scenario goes as canon.
As an adult if she can face down an assassination attempt (that was initially sucessfull) and still go out into the world to die and be resurected sevral times, then I am not actively sure when her distress and danger threshold is high enough to summon beyond the first two times. She could have even first summoned as a child and forgotten how to do it until the assassin.
Animals. We know it can be done. Does it need to be done?
Jowd and Cabanela. Theres not really a moment in game where they reach the distress and danger threashold high enough to summon. I suppose scenarios could be written into their backstories to have them be like Baofu and be experianced Persona users. But is there a need for them to be Persona users when you can fight deamons with guns? Being emotionally stable adults in a dangerous situation is helpful too.
Now with that said, lets talk Arcana afinities
Of course this is based on Original Game, and the characterters in a diffrent situation, could have enough changes to backstory to change arc and arcana)
Lynne:- Best:- Chariot (reverse), Judgement
Good:- Fool, Magician, Strength, Justice, Star, Sun
Normal:- Lovers, High Preistress, Empress, Hermit, wheel of fourtune, Death, tower, world
Bad:-Emperor, Heirophant, temprence
Worst:- Hanged Man, devil
Yomiel:- Best :- Moon, Tower (reversed), The Devil, Justice (Reversed), Star (reversed)
Normal:- Fool, Emperor, Strength, Wheel of fortune, Death, temprence, devil, Judgement, World
Bad:- High Priestess, Empress, lovers, Sun
Worst:- Magician
Sissel:- Good:- Magician, Wheel of fourtune,
Bad:- Emperor
Missile:- Good :- Sun, Star, Chariot
Bad:- Heirophant, devil
Ray:- Good:- High Priestress, Strength, Temprence,
Bad:-Heirophant
Non party (possible social links. You know, assuming the above arnt socials themselves)
Madame Emma Rose:- Lovers.
Minister of defense :- Tower
Kamilia:- Star (reversed)
Amilie:- Magician
Professor:- Hermit
Now to talk about the meanings of the 9 Arcana and why I put them there. I'll try not to do deep dive infodumps.
Cabanela:- as a leader and meantor his strengths are in the Emperor and Hierophant. His sense of Justice is changed from when he broke Yomiel. Now he does his justice with the scale in hand, seeking the truth, to prove with all the evidence he can muster. To carry this investigation on for as long as he has, he needs internal Strength, focus (chariot), Temprence, and Judgement. Conversely, thats why he is not vibing with the death or tower arcanas (cards of change), instead digging his heels in in spite of the forces around him changing the landscape for most of the game.
I debated a lot for where his high priestress would go as he does have good intuition, but ultimatly decided the kind of knowlege it represents for this game is not his specialty.
Lynne:- Lynne is definatly Chariot, but earlier in the game the energy she channeled was out of control, and the directions she went in liable to get her killed. It takes its self out of reverse as the game goes on, and she stops running all over the place (and getting killed) instead shareing information and making more deliberate choices. Her Judgement is also one of her best qualities (higher then her justice), as even though she was on a justice motivated mission, she herself was not always upfront with that. And I believe that her choise to empathise with Yomiel in the submarine was very important to getring the best timeline. Her other afinities include cards of Manifistation, dreams, Joy, and inner strength. On her journey, particularly at the begining, she was bad with cards that included moderation, and positions of teaching or leadership, she is a rokie where she is now.
Jowd:- where we meet him first in the game, Jowd is self punishing. His inaction and isolation are self imposed. The goal he is applying his energy to (reciving the death peanalty) are directly harmful to him, and the people he cares about. Furthermore, with him dies critical information about the manipulator, whcih could potentially help the other prisoners. As he meets Sissel he starts uprighting his arcana, but when we meet him he was distinctly against the magicians manifistation.
Sissel:- I've been calling the magician the card of manifistation, because the magician is all about having the tools, skills and energy to make your dreams, your goals a reality. With Skill, concentration, willpower (and a little actual magic) Sissel is bringing people back from the dead, in the name of chasing the truth, and his own personal values. I also atributed wheel of fourtune to him, for how he is directly manipulating that force, by being an opposing firce to the disasters he encounters. As an amnesic, he's in no place to have the firm sense of self needed to be the Emperor.
Ray:- The High Priestress is a bridge between the councious and unconscious world, symbolizing subcouncious, mystery, intuition, and divine wisdom. As Ray taught Sissel about ghost tricks, essentially guiding him through the world of being a ghost, and what he can do with it, I would say that this counts as being a bridge. Its why Cabanela has low High Priestress, lacking this esoteric knowledge (was one of the last characters to learn and come back from the dead). While the Heirophant is also about teaching, the heirophant is a teacher of worldly knowlege, makeing it feel unsuited for Ray or Missile.
Yomiel:- Yomiel is at a very bad place in game, symbolized by his many reversals. His reversed tower symbolizes his resistance of needed changes, instead keeping hold of the toxic and vengeful mindset. Reversed star for his loss of hope and despair. Reverse Justice for holding his personal desires agaisnt the rights of outher people causing imbalance. The devil symbolizing the partnership with Sith that worsens him, directs him to manipulate people and uproot their lives. But you notice I put moon first.
The moon was probably his first awakened persona. The moon is a card of illusions and instablity. Insecurities and anxieties. Its a hard path, where you need to trust your intuition, your subcouncious, to see through the illusion, to get you through the path safely. It can indicate being ruled by your fears and insecurities, illegal behavior, and repressed issues resurfacing.
At the time where he was being psycologically broken down by Cabanela, what he needed to do was believe in his own innocence. Had he stuck by that (yes its hard, theres a reason his strength is bad and in reverse) he would have eventually been found innocent. Instead he ran. A path of incresingly moral murkiness lay ahead.
Reverse magician under good for his misuse of power (also one of its themes is manipulation), and deterioration of inner belief. Instead of using his skills to maifest, hes using them to hurt. Reverse chariot, for the way his revenge obsession warped his perception. Reverse hermit for how he was withdrawn from society and trapped in obsessive thought loops.
You might notice that his reversed bests all share things in common with the other characters. That's because it can be assumed those were once Good traits of his.
He was driven (chariot), talented (magician), and trusted enough (Justice) enough to get on a top secret engeniering (hermit) project in the first place. He was once a Man with Dreams (star). He and Cabanela are both bad at death (change, to let go of the old and move into the new). With all of his negitive reversals I've also put him at worst for things like empress (growth, maifestation, ect), lovers (choices), and Judgement (personal reflection).
Missile:- Missile is a very possitive character. Accordingly I assinged him some of the most positive cards in the deck. Of course, uncheckd, those worderful traits can be offputting if you charge in without thinking (driving Sissel away in the first timeline). But in timeline 2 with the adition of Ray, they work out for him.
Madame Emma Rose and Minister of Defense are Lovers and Tower respectivly.
Lovers is a card of choices. Partnership. Relationships. Values. Her leaving him was never about not loving her husband. In fact shes up finishing a steamy romance book about them on his birthday. Her leaving him was about the choices he was making, how they were impacting his values, and in response to his choices, she left him.
Had we as players not met him in a crisis, the Minister of Defense might be Emperor, and Madame Rose Empress, but we meet him at his time of crisis, where his values of justice come up against Yomiel, and the decisions he makes afterwords bring upheaval and destruction to his life and health.
Amelie:- we don't see much of her, but what we do see of her grasp on both executed plans and quick uptake of opertunities, even while sick, makes me think that kid has the skill to manifest the reality she dreams of.
Kamilia:- Star reverse represents loss of faith, self doubt, and lack of motivation.
In the past Kamilia was said to enjoy building gagets. In the present we see no evidence of that at Lynnes , and she seens disintrested, to the point where she's kidnapped and can continue to read her book without apappearing hugely distressed by the kidnapping. Even as they brought her to her own old house, she was at most a little baffled. She also appears to be clumsy, which seems a far cry from the kid who built rube goldberg machines. The kid is not alright.
Personas
I am kind of reluctant to pick Personas. In part because the Personas they summon would be influenced by the game and tied mythologies attached to each particular theme.
But also that the persona its self indicates things about character, chracter growth, and plot beats.
Which would be something the author needs to decide.
Do you want them to have connected Mythology, such as Ken, Shinjiro, and Akihiko? What legends work best for Ghost Trick Characters for this purpose?
What do their initial personas say about their characters, and what do the Ultimate ones say about their growth?
What plot points and characterizations are being hinted at in the choice of persona for that character?
Megaten as a franchise has always used mythology as a template for plot beats and character basis, with differentiations in character and motives being adjusted to suit settings.
Maki summoning Maso tells us things about her, just as much as her being a Gemini, or High Priestress Inital Persona, or even bow user tells us things about her.
Nanjo Kei summoning his butler as his ultimate persona says something about him, just as much as Minato summoning Messiah does.
Even in a SMT game, your protagonist summoning a bunch of angel varients in battle says things about them, and how they see the world. As you progress through the game, your level gets higher, allowing you to connect with stronger and more opinionated members of the alignment you have chosen to persue.
Its sort of like being in an echo chamber even. If your protagonist is hanging out with a bunch of beings who are really Pro Millennium Kingdom, while looking out upon the remains of the world that's left behind, then they are probably going to come around to the point of view that the Millennium Kingdom sounds like a pretty good deal.
All those divines you bring out in battle convince other people and the beings you fight too, that you agree with that viewpoint. After all, you wouldn't have good synergy in the contract if you wern't likeminded.
But I'm getting derailed. The point is, I'm not sure what Personas I would give them if they were to summon. I would want a lot more time to reaserch mythology and find ones that tie togther well with their characters and plot beats.
After all, theres a lot of mythology in the world, and many ways to interpret it
Starting as Alfyn Greengrass in Octopath travler has been really funny to me. I like him, they all charming. But starting with Alfyn means we have this young newbie apothecary chatacter, who is going travling for experience and to heal the sick and suffering. And so the first thing he does, is wander over to the next town and gets involved in a heist.
Yes I know Therion is a Lone Wolf character. But that also makes it funny. Therion is like, 'Other theives, nah. You know what my heist needs? Drugs. I need an apothecary.'
So he asks. "Hey buddy, want to join me on my heist?"
To which Alfyn, -who doesnt charge what people can't afford, and is on a mission to do good- tells him "sure I'm in. "
And so they set out on a quest to break into the mansion.
Or so happns in my game. As Alfyn is not acknowledged by any of the story characters, it's probably meant to imply that Therion broke in alone, or they might have matching friendship bracelets.
So if this were a novel or written, it would probably go, Therion rants to Alfyn about how absoloutly terrible his last heist went, and Alfyn decides "we should be traveling companions."
His other closest option, is Primrose, who is on a vengeance quest, which probably involves diffrent kinds of crimes.
So we have; Local healer leaves home for the first time, and immediately gets involved in crimes with his new friend.
I haven't really made a lot of AUs for Ghost Trick so much as Alternative timelines, but I suppose another fic set in the verse of ‘changed fate: variation” could count.
Set in the POV of living Jowd
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Notes on it under the cut
Its from living Jowds POV, but imagine the three ghosts in the background doing things like getting their families in the same place to bond, checking up on living Yomiel in jail, and saving their lives.
Jowd saw Past -Jowd in a moment where he argued against the proposed plan of going to a different restaurant for their break.
Yomiel possessing Cabanela :- “what does Cabanella talk about? Normal stuff I mean?”
Sissel, who doesn't know him very well, having a flashback. “He once talked about hats. How warm and soft they were.”
Yomiel, who also doesn't know him very well. Takes it and runs with it.
After all the time spent hanging in a cat he's a bit out of practice walking on someone else's two legs, let alone dancing on them, lol.
The “manipulator” hasn't caused any incidents beyond Yomiel manipulating himself, so no one is on high alert about this. And Jowd is deciding to go with it, someone is looking out for him. And it's weird, but maybe this isn't the first time it happened.
I was originally going to try it from ghost pov, but it just didn't flow.

“So now that our significant others are meeting up for coffee, should we find a way for Lynne and Kamila to become friends?”
Yomiel asks Jowd and his cat.
“Significant Others?” Jowd asks.
“I never married Sissel so I can't call her my wife or spouse like you can. So the term for that while still applying to both of them is significant other.”
“Is this a thing I missed while I was in jail?”
“Buddy, you missed a lot while you were in jail.”
Sissel listens to the two of them bicker with a fondness. Sharing a body with two humans has been enlightening in some ways and confusing in others. He's still not sure why they just can't call their human partners “Mate” or why weddings merit such significance.
