So I have trouble speaking properly to strangers when I order food or something along those lines. It goes to the point where I’m afraid of answering or making phone calls. Usually, my parents tend to make me order or speak anyways whenever I’m going out to eat with them, no matter how few sounds I’m able to actually get out. In these cases, it’s my sister that has saved me, several times over.
In any case, we were going somewhere and me, being used to another eating schedule than the rest of my family (I’m staying with them due to the virus) I needed to go get something to eat, so we stopped at a random place so I could buy a hotdog.
So I walk inside and start to look at what food there is to buy (this is a small gas station that includes a small shop) and I settle for a french hotdog. But when I try to tell the young lady behind the counter my throat just won’t let me make any noise. She noticed I had trouble speaking and asked me if I had a hard time speaking, so when I said yes she helped me by asking “yes” and “no” questions so I could shake my head or nod so she could understand what I wanted.
It’s people like this that make my faith in humanity stay. And it’s thanks to this person who helped me that I got my food. So thank you, gas station person. You made my day by understanding me.
