Respond to Ramsdell
From "Storytelling, Narration, and the 'Who I Am' Story.", there is following citation; three distinctions: narrative is the representation of events consisting of story and narrative discourse; story is the event or se- quence of events (the action), and narrative discourse is those events as represented”. With this citation, i could completely understand difeerence between narrative and story. Therefore, now i think i can make clear the 3rd project focus.

On the Ramsdell Piece
Ramsdell's work on narratives and stories gave me introduced an expert perspective on stories and narratives to me and helped prepare me for my upcoming third project where I will need to write a narrative. It gave a good descriptions of the differences between the two such as in the length and focus. By the use of the story "Who I am" she shows how narratives differ from stories being more than a sequence of events but rather a relationship between actions and events. She also touched in indirect and direct characterization which I will have to look into more prior to the project and make the right decide which is correct for this work. Nevertheless this particular piece helped greatly in planning my project 3 outline and I plan to utilize this information in its making.
Ramsdell Response
I think that Ramsdell has a lot to say about literacy that makes a lot of sense. Her view on the Who I Am story is really cool. I think that a lot of people have moments that define them throughout their lives, and yet when people tell stories about it, it is often done in really ineffective ways. I think that her entire essay was really interesting, but I completely loved that she discussed how the new versions of stories are involving beginnings, not necessarily middles or ends, just beginnings. This really hit home with me. I think this is a really valid point to make. Even when just telling a story to friends, once you make your point, there is always more to tell. I think that just because people are still living and adding to their stories, it is hard to find ends.
Response to Ramsdell
I actually love this piece by Ramsdell. While studying in New York, I took an Oral History of Irish History class and throughout Ramsdell's writing I found aspects that I have discussed previously with my Irish professor. Storytelling is a huge aspect of Irish culture and being 50% Irish I could relate to many things that she discussed. The idea of the "Who I Am story is interesting because stories are usually told about others while in Irish history they are almost always about the storyteller themselves or a close relative mixed with aspects of the storyteller. Her piece helped get me into the mindset of writing a narrative piece, something I have never been to comfortable with, but I think that I am ready to handle Project 3 by beginning with her starter points.
