i love and hate how toxic sauron and galadriel are
on one hand: i want wholesome only in fiction real life is bad enough no angsty only happy
on the other: they manipulated each other? the crux of their relationship is "i used you as i pawn in my ambition" vs "i became obsessed with claiming you to prove my power and destroy your goodness and nobility"
like HELLO and yet at the same time they change each other for the better/worse: like sauron actually participates in SAVING people, which if he wanted to simply kill the orcs to "heal" the world that's fine but he fucking saves Elendil (the IRONY) which is like something he never would have done previously cause he's an eternal spirit being that existed before morals were created and he has no qualms about right and wrong (shown by how many orcs were implied to have been sacrificed in sauron's quest for dark power)
and i can't remember but i think halbrand subltly encourages galadriel to be like not a good person? like she's full on genocidal she wants all the orcs dead just because they're orcs (galadriel racist arc???) and halbrand by saying he wanted to stay in numenor baited her into convincing him to come? i fully believe sauron was intentionally "wanting to settle down" knowing galadriel would take it as a challenge
and if i turn my au brainrot into a thumbnail practice?...
