71: A list of what you have learned in the past 30 days.
Oh wow how ironic to be asked this towards the end of Ramadan.
1. Never, ever judge others, no matter what; With what's been going on lately at my mosque and how much I hear people gossip. I let alone don't like gossiping the slightest bit anymore. I have been a pretty good secret keeper for the past two years. And this is after seeing and hearing those gossips leading to judging of others. So, I have tried my best, to leave other's business as their own. Whatever they choose to do in their life is between them and Allah. I also have been hearing lately that a lot of converts or those thinking about converting are taken aback because they are afraid of a judgmental community. I don't know when us Muslims started thinking we could sit here and judge others just because they make mistakes differently than us. May Allah help the Muslim Ummah inshAllah
2. Not delay prayer; Any time that I have been listening to lectures or tafseer of the Quran, there is great importance on prayer. I think we all know that. To strengthen our faith, we need prayer. And I need to stop being lazy and make all prayers on time. inshAllah.
3. Forgive; If I can't forgive people of their mistakes and wrongdoing to me, how can I expect Allah to forgive my sins?
4. Respect; I was recently on my cousin's facebook. This cousin lives in Pakistan and I grew up around her. Basically I took care of her when she was just a baby and I never saw her again till she was 8 or 9. Now she is maybe 14? And I am just blown away with how different Pakistan looks in her pictures. She's with her friends and pretty much she's probably more modern than myself. Haha. But anyhow, I was just there for that purpose, and I scrolled down maybe 2 inches. And I see a comment by her friend that I couldn't ignore. It went something like "Oh I woke up late haha, my stupid servants woke me up" And I stared hard at that comment trying to tell myself not to say anything. But here's the thing, I was raised by one of those "servants" who by the by, I consider closer to me than a lot of people I know today. They were the closest girls to me during my childhood. I can't even stand when when someone older than me is serving me for dinner or when I go to Pakistan, I try to make the girls that work in our house, feel more comfortable and I do everything for myself to keep them away from exhaustion. I cannot stand disrespect, towards anyone really. And it's source is just arrogance, when you think you are above someone else. When you're so gone in your own world, you don't see or feel for the other person. It's so petty. And these girls are 14, calling the girls who are probably way older their "servants" and then calling them stupid. My mom told me that I will see that disrespect a lot in my own house since this cousin of mine still lives in our house in Pakistan. And definitely, I will have a ton to say about all this disrespect when I get there.
5. Be kind; No matter how mean someone is towards me and no matter how wrong they have treated me. I want to repel their wrong with right, and I want to become genuinely nicer and nicer to them.
6. Allah's plan is better than my own; I have seen many relationships go wrong. I have seen many marriages break and a lot of wrong being done between husband and wife. Where I'm at right now, it's pretty scary. I might even be engaged by the time I get back from Pakistan. I literally don't know what's going to happen. I'll really try my best to not come back engaged lol, I'm sure my parents won't force me, they're great parents. But I don't want to force something that's not possible in my life. I think that is going against what Allah wills for me, and I trust that is absolutely the best thing for me. Not even about marriage, but for all decisions of my life. So, I'm really just learning to be completely dependent on the plans of Allah. I know it will take me great places iA :)
7. Yeah, NEVER, EVER play words with friends with my cousin Aysha. That girl might be my best friend, but she is CUH-RAY-ZAY.
