Y’know, I wonder how gender for Darkners even works. Like, every darkner species uses the same pronouns. Rabbicks and Ribbicks can call themselves either boys or girls, but still all use it/its. The only exception to the pronoun rule is Jongler, who uses he/they. But considering the other Zappers use it/he, it’s not too unlikely they use they/them too. This all sort of seems to imply they were created that way as opposed to being told what they were or choosing themself.
Makes you wonder if Ralsei is a different case or not, just like with a lot of stuff in how his status relates to other Darkners. It’s easy to imagine that he’s a male because of his ties to Asriel and/or what he’s seen in the prophecy, but considering that’s not how any other Darkner works, I’m not so sure.
