How have you guys been? I hope you had an awesome weekend! Anyway, a friend of mine sent me an e-mail just the other day. Susan asked me if I knew how she can choose a contractor that will build her an eco-friendly, energy-efficient home.  Here’s the thing. I am not from Australia so I really didn’t have any idea and that’s what I told her exactly. However, that shouldn’t stop me from doing something, right? I searched online and researched on what she should do.
I discovered that she can check with the green building council of Australia. They’re an organization that’s committed to creating a sustainable property industry in the country. They believe that this goal can be achieved by the adoption of green building practices. Susan should be check with this organization for information about green building and also ask them if they can refer a reputable trusted home builder in Melbourne AUS. Aside from that, if she wanted to verify a contractor’s legitimacy, she can of course check with the Melbourne Builder Association, Master Builders Green Living association and verify their business registration. This actually sounds daunting or time-consuming but if Susan wanted to guarantee the excellence of the contractor she’ll choose, she’ll have to go through all these.
Anyway, speaking of sustainable building systems in Australia, these include the use of non-toxic or low-toxicity, recycled and modular building products and supplies. From what I read, some of the materials they use include concrete, ice blocks, timber, mudbricks, strawbale, timbercrete, rapidwall, brick and rammed earth. Well, I don’t have any idea what these are so I still have to research more.  LOL If you have any information to share,  just let me know or feel free to post them in the comment section. I’ll appreciate it if you can help me help Susan. Bye for now! I have to go out and get a new lamp for my living room.
