Raining Night is the title song of Hong Kong actor Tony Leung’s earliest album. Though Leung chose to concentrate solely on his acting career after the early 2000s, continuing his acclaimed informal partnership with renowned director Wong Kar-wai, he was a prominent figure of the Hong Kong music industry in the 1990s. This performance with “Hong Kong’s daughter” Anita Mui, who would pass away from cervical cancer eight years later, highlights a long-standing friendship between the two superstars of the Hong Kong entertainment world. 

Leung would reprise this performance alone at the 2013 memorial concert a decade after Mui’s passing, alongside other famous artists and actors dedicating performances to a beloved friend and colleague who lives eternally in shared art and memory.
