Hey Zirkkun, I am on Floof Queendom and I saw Noko's new art that she did of different characters in hugging poses. One of them was Horror and she told me the little skelly hanging from his arm was Dye. She said that they are your OC. So I was wondering if there's an info post or character sheet about Dye. Or if you can tell me more about them.
Sure, I can tell you about them, absolutely!! (Also, for those wanting context, the image being asked about by @little-noko is over here!)
Do note! Dye's story is not a necessarily happy or fun one. I originally designed his character -- and his half-brother -- around my frustration with people labeling certain darker topics as "edgy." As a reference, before I had a name for him, he was affectionately named "knife baby" because. well. he was a small child being... Very irresponsible with knives. (There is murder involved.)
For more fun arts done in the past, I did these two with both Dye and his brother Quill, one for Halloween and one as a Pokemon crossover. Noko also did this piece of Dye as a mermaid, and Kao ( @tatatale ) did this piece of Dye and Quill's human designs!
He has a page on ArtFight here, and this was my original post about him (but this info might have changed slightly? I haven't re-read it in a while.)
I can explain more here, though! Do know, though, a lot of his stuff is from a mostly-unfinished project of mine, so it might be a little messy since I have not worked on it in ages beyond RP with friends.
I'll put it under a read more since it might get a little long but also so it can be under these warnings! :D
Dye is a shipkid for Killer and Ink in an AU of mine I previously dubbed the Polyship AU or PSAU for short, which was a kind of catch-all title for a collection of stories I had set in the same multiverse. (I later wanted to rename it to Fractured Prism...)
I actually made this animatic a few years back that kind of covers the story of Dye's parents specifically. I'd never made a shipkid before so Dye was genuinely my first attempt, but he has a special place in my heart for it.
Basically, Ink got roped into working for Nightmare after hanging out with Killer too much. Ink chose to make this decision as opposed to avoiding interaction with the AU because he had been friends with a creator who convinced him to make his own choices and become his own character. That whole thing in itself is a long story that has been subject to like 4 revisions so I'm gonna leave it at that for now.
Dye happened on complete accident, but Nightmare "allowed" him to exist, if you will, because he had plans to craft Dye into a tool for his own misdeeds going forward. However, Nightmare goal was to keep people ALIVE so he could farm them for negative emotions, meanwhile Dye's "talents" resided in spiking fear before ultimately killing them (even though he didn't intend to.) Nightmare considered this to be a "failed experiment" of sorts, so he threw Dye out into the multiverse on his own at age 4.
During this time, Dye didn't really know how to fend for himself or... do anything by himself, really. Not beyond the awful "training" he'd gotten through Nightmare. This led him to basically greeting people through stabbing, to which he found a fascination with the different "colors within people's bodies" (the different colors of magic or blood that would ooze out when he stabbed someone.) He found out that ingesting this "made his eyes do funny things," (they gained eyelights and, instead of dripping with black ooze, the "tears" turned iridescent.) You can see the difference in his ref here:
Anyway, this cycle happens repeatedly as he keeps stumbling through portal after portal, until he somehow stumbles into Sunny's ( @tatatale / @asksunflower ) flowerfield AU. Here, he is willingly adopted by Sunny (as in, Sunny accepts Dye as his son) and unwillingly adopted by Breaker!Killer ( @murmur-utdr-au ) (as in, Dye clings to Breaker and Breaker wants no part of it but plays along with anyway. Dye calls Breaker his "knife buddy.")
By the way, when I tag those two, they're my friends and I RP with them! That's how Dye is connected to them :D
You also may have noticed the floating white circle in front of Dye. He functions similarly to Flowey-- in that, he has no SOUL (illustrated by the translucent white circle) but is living purely with Determination (illustrated by the red outline). Because of this, he has extremely muted emotions, although they are not entirely nonexistent. Notably, when he is young, he is terrified by seeing black ooze or paint or the like because he wrongly assumes it will be Nightmare appearing to hurt him. Which... he doesn't actually remember, because on top of having a horrible memory thanks to Ink, Dye has repressed pretty much all of his time living in Nightmare's castle. All he remembers is the fear it brought him, and that fear can be triggered by the slightest reminder.
As Dye gets older, though -- which, this part is more just planned out as opposed to actually executed in any form of writing -- he is able to work through those things to not have such panicked reactions to the things that trigger him. This is also beneficial, considering the fact that Dye's magic default takes the color black, because that is the color you get when you mix all of them into one.
His memory continues to fail him, however, and he doesn't retain most events from his childhood as a whole. There is even a point where his parents manage to escape the castle -- "thanks" to an unfortunate combination of help from @tatatale's Error (Neon) and that same creator from earlier.
Despite the fact that he gets support and plenty of help from Sunny and Breaker, though, he doesn't really change all that drastically from his morality as a kid into when he becomes an adult. This is made worse when he meets his younger-older brother (uh. due to different timeflow in the flowerfield vs Nightmare's castle, Quill out-ages Dye by 10 years.) and re-meets his parents. His parents dote on Dye completely-- and Quill is convinced that Dye is the sole reason for the good in his life being ripped from underneath him.
This is also what Dye looks like at age 18, btw:
Dye is also meant to be a foil to his brother, Quill. I've been trying to keep this as focused on Dye as possible, but they are inherently very linked by design.
Dye values doing things as he pleases and freely, while Quill is more rigid and prefers stricter plans and schedules. Dye is pretty laid-back and apathetic, meanwhile Quill is very stubborn and passionate. Dye is able to charm all different kinds of people for whatever reason, but Quill is basically a repellent to all both in magic and just general personality. And, most importantly-- Dye doesn't really find much value in life at all, his own or others; meanwhile Quill has immense value in life, the good and the bad alike.
In this way, the two are sort of supposed to flip-flop their roles. Dye is set up to be a victim-turned-antihero type story, but he ends up having a corruption arc that he is never really punished for, in part due to everyone feeling bad for him. Quill, on the other hand, has a similar setup, but is more "oh this guy is definitely going to be the villain" -- only for HIM to end up as the conflicted antihero with a redemption arc. He is still very much a victim, but he's basically thrown under a bus by many around him.
Anyway, explaining more of this will dig into Quill territory, which I can definitely delve into (probably tomorrow morning... it's 12:30 AM for me right now lol) if you're interested! But, for now, that's my blurb on Dye :D

I can't remember if I asked this already but can I have a pukey Kankri and Karkat being cared for by their dad, Signless? ^_^
“Alright, boys, I expect those temperatures to be going down.” The Signless gently placed a large hand on Kankri’s forehead, messing up his bangs.
“That suggests that we can do something about it,” Kankri complained.
“It suggests I’m doing something about it, which I am.” The Signless moved on to Karkat to feel his forehead, who recoiled a bit and made a noise of disdain.
“You would be if we could hold down a damn pill,” Karkat complained as he pulled back from his father and gripped his plastic-line garbage bag even tighter.
“Son, I don’t think you’ll like my solution to you not holding down this round of fever reducers.”
“Ugh, Dad, no, it’s not that bad,” Karkat grimaced. “We’ll be fine.”
“Then quit your bitching,”
“We have a right to complain,” said Kankri.
“Anything you want me to do differently, then, boy?”
“No, sir,” Kankri refused to make eye contact.
“Drink your water,”
Both of the teenagers brought their glasses to their lips, thoroughly threatened by the idea of a hospital visit if they didn’t keep hydrated.
“Now, Kankri, if there is something you thought would make you more comfortable, I would love to help.” The Signless offered.
“I’m sorry, Dad,” said Kankri. “I don’t know what else you could do. I think you’re doing the best you can.”
“Damn right I am,” said the Signless. “Karkat? Any suggestions?”
“It’d be nice if it were cooler in here,”
“Do you mind, Kankri?” asked The Signless.
“A little bit of air could be nice,” Kankri decided, but he still reached for a close blanket to cover himself up.
The Signless switched on the fan and said,
“Karkat, I’m thinking it might be good to take another temperature.”
Suddenly, Karkat leaned forward and heaved a red liquid into the trash. As bile raised up from his stomach, The Signless sat the thermometer back down and went to Karkat’s side. He started by gently stroking his shoulder up to his neck, and then firmly rubbed his back.
The Signless sighed.
“This is completely disgusting,” said Kankri. “No offense to you, it’s the concept of us both constantly getting sick in front of each that bothers me. I’m just as repulsive.”
Karkat spit a few times.
“Can i just rest a bit?” Karkat’s voice shook.
“Sure,” The Signless patted Karkat’s shoulder and carefully took the trash. “It’ll take me a few minutes to empty this out, anyway.”
“Why me.” Karkat moaned, folding over on himself and running his fingers through his hair. “I need a shower.”
“That sounds lovely,” said Kankri as their father left. “Plus, that will get Dad out of our hair for a bit. We don’t need him trying to make us do something every second. Our bodies need rest.”
“Exactly,” said Karkat. “This isn’t a hospital. He doesn’t need to be so strict. If he forces me to eat any more crackers I’m going to fucking scream.”
“Or if I have to choke down another pill that won’t be in me long enough to work,” Kankri pointed out. “I think I’d be vomiting less if I wasn’t trying to swallow such thick fever reducers.”
“Me too, man,” said Karkat. “If I didn’t keep needing new trash bags, I’d pretend to take a nap and go read by myself so he wouldn’t bother me anymore.”
Can I have a story where a baby troll/grub or toddler/wiggler gets sick and the human kids are looking after them and they don't know how to look after trolls and chaos ensues till they call their troll friends for help? Emeto content would be good too.

“I don’t know, Jade,” Dave said while holding Aradia. “Maybe grubs are just difficult. They warned us that Eridan and Karkat were both really hard.”
“This isn’t normal for him,” Jade insisted as she held the screaming grub.
“It seems normal to me,” said Dave, and Jade shot him a dirty look.
“Jade, I didn’t say that to upset you,” Dave promised. “I was just making a joke.”
“It’s not funny,” said Jade. “I’m scared.”
“I am, too.”
Suddenly, Karkat’s slobber bubbled up and he was hurling red slop all over his face. Jade quickly tilted him up, which she instantly regretted, realising it probably shook him even more.
“Aah!” Jade tried not to yell out of surprise.
“ROSE,” Dave’s voice cracked as he called for help.
“John!” Jade yelled. “Get paper towels!”
“I’m kinda busy!” John yelled.
“JOHN!” Jade screamed.
Aradia start crying.
“Sorry,” Dave apologised to the baby as he sat her down on the carpet. He nearly reached back for her, unesasy about his decision, but he had Karkat to deal with.
“Nobody step on the baby on the floor,” Dave said as Rose ran over. They all exchanged horrified looks, and Rose ran to move Aradia to one of the playpens. She rushed back as John appeared with some napkins.
“Oh, god,” John dropped the napkins on top of Karkat, not knowing what to do or having any desire to clean. “Sick.”
Jade’s bottom lip quivered as she cleaned Karkat up.
“Can somebody please message one of the trolls?” Jade asked. “Karkat’s just going to yell at me, but we need help.”
“I’ll talk to Fef,” John offered. “She’s probably the least busy.”
John pulled out his phone while Jade tried to soothe the gross baby.
“He needs sopor slime!” John yelled out as he got a response. “Like, to eat some!”
“They can eat it?” asked Jade.
“Gamzee sure has,” Dave pointed out.
“Okay, maybe my question was not with whether or not they can eat it, but they should eat it?”
“Perhaps it’s worth the risks if it’s for a valid medicinal purpose,” Rose theorised. “That doesn’t necessarily make me comfortable with feeding it to an infant, though.”
John filled a paper bowl with sopor slime and spooned it into Karkat’s mouth between screams.
Rose seemed anxious, but she stood by, not stopping anyone or exactly helping them drug the child.
“His little throat’s going raw…” Dave frowned.
“Should you give him more?” asked Jade. “I mean, he ate it just fine.”
“I don’t think so,” said John.
“How long does it take to work?” asked Dave.
“I don’t know,”
Karkat started to hiccup, and his cries lightened.
Jade felt her own shoulders relax as the baby started to calm down. She gave the grub a small smile, and he yawned.
The new sick Mituna Latula fic was so cute!!! I loved it. I always find Mituna really cute. Even when he's angry, he he. Latula is so sweet and patient with him <3
I love when sickies get all their frustrations out and the caretakers know they don't mean anything by it!

Can we have a sick little toddler Kankri, with Porrim being his mother lusus?
New Lusus
Porrim satwith her purse on the kitchen table as her toddler watched TV on the couch. Shejust bought a new one to fit all of her supplies for him. She found the grubhalf a year ago, but she was still adjusting to being a new mommy. She hadfinally given up her purse with chains as a strap for a practical one thatcould hold more of her stuff. She hid her cigarettes, mace and knife in a zipperedpouch. Porrim looked around the room. Even her little boy looked punk, and thehive was dirty. She wanted to raise him right, so she was TRYING to normal up.Her little boy was falling asleep on the couch. Porrim watched him, getting abit tired herself. She didn’t want to finish resorting the purse. As shedecided to go lie down with him, he suddenly started crying.
“Mommy’s righthere, Kankri,” she promised, walking over to him.
He reached out with chubby littlefingers, letting her pick him up.
“You’re all hot,” she cooed. “Maybeyour daycare teacher is right. You just don’t stay happy for long, do you?”
The grub cried hot tears onto hismother and weakly attempted to thrash around.
“Oh, silly thing.” She ran herfingers through his hair. “Would you like some milk?”
Porrim rushedto daycare, her eyeshadow from the day before still partially on.
“Sorry I’mlate,” she apologised as she took her baby.
“No, I’m gladto have a moment to talk to you,” the woman said, looking a bit anxious to talkto Porrim. “Since you’re a new lusus, I wasn’t sure if you knew that you reallyneed to work on him with his motor skill development. He doesn’t move as wellas the other kids.”
“Oh, I don’twant to rush him,” said Porrim. “He’ll crawl better when he’s ready. It’s notlike we want to have to chase him.”
“You don’tunderstand,” the woman smiled nervously. “You don’t want him to have mobilityproblems. Just work harder to see if he CAN crawl. If he can’t crawl….” Thewoman made a nervous gesture and raised her eyebrows.
“So what if hecan’t crawl right?” asked Porrim.
“Especiallywith his unique colour, I worry that he may be sick,” she explained.
“Yeah, hemight be, what of it?” she asked, going into fight mode. Kankri was gettingantsy now, but Porrim shooshed him.
“I just wantto make sure he’s getting all the attention he needs,”
“Look, I agreewith you on that last bit, you could just stand to be a little less afraid,”said Porrim. “I love him no matter how functional he is. I don’t think there’sanything else I can do for him if there is something wrong with him. You gotany ideas? Come on big shot lusus, what are YOUR ideas?”
“Miss, Ididn’t mean any offence,” the daycare worker promised. “We don’t have to talkabout it.”
“But we CANtalk about. Loud and proud. I’m not gonna pussy around it. Yeah. I think he’ssick. So what? If he needs a walker or some shit, I’ll get him one. One thatlooks fucking rad, alright? Maybe put some spikes on it. I’m not gonna hide himaway so he doesn’t get in your way!”
“He’s notgetting in anyone’s way,” she tried to explain. “I’m so sorry. I spoke out ofturn,”
“Hell yeah, you did! Shit, why are people like this? It’s only because it’s not your kidthat you just don’t GET it,” as Porrim spoke, Kankri whined. “I’ll bring himback tomorrow, and you’re going to help him as much as you can. I’m excusingyou because you have a normal shitty belief, got it? It doesn’t make me likeyou. It just makes me not want to have to yell at another daycare worker!”
“Yes, Icompletely understand,” the daycare worker nodded nervously.
“And I’m onfucking top of this! We have an appointment with a specialist, so don’t getyour panties in a knot!”
