Warnings: OOC, not proofread, probs trash (haven't written in about a year and never written for Kankri), I also BARELY met Kankri (justice for us homestucks on pages 7000)

Right off the bat, the moment Kankri starts flushing for you, everyone knows

The change in behavior was SO obvious

Especially to Porrim

Shes absolutely on his ASS about it

He swears UP AND DOWN that its not true, then goes on another rant on how that assumption could potentially be triggering for those who struggle greatly to fill their quadrants

On that note, I feel that even if he knows that he's flushed for you, he would deny it and / or pretend he isn't

You GENUINELY wouldn't be able to waterboard this information out of him

That doesn't mean he won't consciously try to court you

(Using "court" very liberally here, it can barely even be considered that)

I've mentioned this before, but if you mention a topic he often dismisses (e.g. gender politics), he switches up his opinion on it and will treat it just as important as class oppression or trigger warnings

Porrim thinks he's just trying to impress you

(He is btw)

(Shes just pleased he finally won't argue with her on the topic of feminism anymore)

He sometimes lets you rant about stuff and he just sits there quietly for as long as he can

(He often interjects to add his own comments and small rants, but tries his ABSOLUTE hardest to keep it short)

(It's not much, but it's progress)

He probably likes listening to your voice almost as much as he likes his own

There's absolutely NO way he would be the one to confess first by the way

If you want him you gotta get him yourself

When you confess, he's a mess

He's fidgeting with his sweater sleeves

He's over analyzing everything you say, it's not often that someone doesn't absolutely hate him

Out of pure nervousness, he starts to lecture you about how important the role of matesprit is and blah blah blah

You kinda tuned him out because you, too, are most likely anxious as well

You just want a straight answer, dude

So you're just stuck standing there, listening to him

"So..is that a yes orrr.." "9h, yes. 96vi9usly. I th9ught I'd made that clear."

He did not make it clear

When you two actually become matesprits, I feel like not much would change at the start

He would probably want you in his line of sight as much as possible

It brings him comfort in a way

Very very very VERY rarely would he initiate contact

At most it would be a hand on your back to guide you somewhere or a brush of your hands

Even then, it would be VERY light

That's not just because he values his personal space, though that is also a big reason

But he is quite nervous around you

No matter how many sweeps you two are together, he is just as nervous around you as he was when he was flushing

He just found someone who truly respects his boundaries and preferences

He doesn't want to lose that

He also doesn't get as upset or lecture you if you accidentally get into his personal space as he would the others

Speaking of which, if you seem to dislike his lectures, he will try to keep them short and less common with you (as much as he can, at least)

I doubt that he would ever kiss or, gog forbid PAIL his partner, so don't get your hopes too high for that

(pst..if he does kiss you, it's very light and very quick..)

(..usually on your cheek, forehead, or knuckles..probably never the lips..)

Cronus probably gets all pissy that Kankri got a matesprit before he did

Speaking of Cronus, if he ever tried to hit on you (or GOG forbid if he touched you without consent), Kankri is there in an INSTANT to deliver a few sweeps long lecture on how inappropriate that was

Contrary to popular belief, but I believe that Kankri would call his matesprit pet names

His favorites are "My Heart" and "(My) Dearest"

ALWAYS uses them in private and generally avoids calling you them in public (with the exception of Porrim)

(Also she thinks it's the cutest thing ever)

Sometimes he slips up and refers to you using the pet names in public, but he's quick to correct himself

(He gets really embarrassed, though)

His love language is words of affirmation

What can I say, he likes words

Many of his lectures have at least one or two mentions of you in them, no matter the topic at hand

(He especially likes mentioning it to Cronus if he happens to have pissed him off earlier)

"Cr9nus, I am trying very hard t9 appr9ach this with sensitivity, s9 please understand that I am n9t c9ndemning y9u as a pers9n. With that 6eing said, f9rgetting t9 tag p9tentially triggering c9ntent can genuinely hurt pe9ple, and I am asking that y9u 6e m9re mindful in the future. I also feel like quality time could be his love language as well

This usually just entails you two sitting down for a few hours and chatting

If you get triggered by something he says (or if you pretend thatyou are), he wouldn't double down on it like he would for the others (e.g. "6ut f9r future reference, it's helpful t9 alert y9ur c9nversati9nal partners t9 y9ur triggers well in advance.")

He probably would feel really bad about it

The last thing he wants is for his Dearest to be triggered :(

Overall, I feel as though it would be a happy, healthy matespritship (as long as you know how to deal with him, that is)

This was GENUINELY so fun to write oh my days

I got really nervous when writing Kankri's dialog, I didn't wanna make him too OOC but I personally think I did ok..maybe..

I really like writing guys

Clearly it was no secret that Kankri gets quite passionate about social justice

He made sure that EVERYONE in his vicinity got a lecture on how what they were doing could be triggering

No one liked it

People often tuned him out, some even going out of their way to avoid him entirely

However, you were different

You seemed to be the only one who truly listened to what he had to say

You never interrupted

You never rolled your eyes in annoyance when he started talking

You never came up with some half-assed excuse as to why you had to abruptly leave

You never talked shit about him behind his back

You respected his desire for personal space

You listened to his ramblings intently

You asked follow up questions and add on at some points!

(If you can even find a pause in his words, this man does NOT take a second to breathe)

You've even defended him against Meenah when she expresses her annoyance in a less-than-kind way

Hes absolutely over the MOON to find someone who seems to share the same passion as him

Because of this, you become the person he seeks out to talk to

Someone does something he deems "unjust"?

He goes to find you (right after his 3 hour lecture)

He can't find anyone to rant to?

Already halfway to wherever you are

Someone is getting annoyed at him talking to them?

They're leading him to you

It gets to a point where his lectures to others become less and less common

(They genuinely cannot think you enough)

I like to think that if you mention or take interest in a topic he oftenly dismisses (e.g. gender politics and feminism) he would immediately switch up his opinion

Starts acting like its the most important thing EVER to them and starts complaining about it to you

If you are just as passionate about social justice, you two will lecture people together

(All the thanks that you got previously from the others were revoked)

Overall, either you become a saint in the other's eyes, or they dislike you just as much as they do Kankri
