Lil Rant on Rosemary

Rosemary Applefield had the potential to be such a nuanced and compelling character bro they had all the right pieces yet they continue to make her act like a conniving villain when she's thirteen year old. Her actions reveal that she's a lot more astute and resourceful for her age. Even though , yes, her stealing Nadja's identity was obviously wrong, it makes perfect sense as to why she did so. I mean, it's the industrial revolution, every kid except nobles has awful living conditions, why should Nadja have it good? There's really so much more to add but I can't remember details atm. My point is Rosemary is a very wasted character. In general, Ashita no Nadja lacks that same judicious approach to character writing that Ojamajo Doremi thrived with.

I like to think he absorbed a lot of the information he learned in high school, he just doesn’t remember it nor probably doesn’t care to actually do anything with said info - unless it’s related to gaming. This is why he’s able to make Zeke so easily.

He definitely has adhd. It explains why he genuinely struggles with basic life skills (I.e cleaning the house, cooking etc). Yes Ethan is lazy. He’s a 20 something year old man child who stays at home playing games all day and never pays rent. However, even when he’s gotten over the hurdle of begining the task and is finally motivated to do a task. Ethan still struggles, a lot. Like not regular not-motivated-to-to-the-dishes-cuz-im-bored type of of struggle. Like he will do said task but get very distracted easily and will do it incorrectly time and time again. To me this proves that it’s an issue rooted in executive dysfunction, rather than pure selfishness. Even if it’s not, (which I doubt because there’s so much more evidence pointing to him having adhd) he definitely wasn’t given enough or the proper amount of guidance to do things. There is still some sort of deep rooted cause to foster this supposed incompetence. But what does Ethan not struggle with then? What’s something he’s absolutely passionate about and will override any initial lack of dopamine?

Gaming!! Like I said it’s why he made Zeke. Of course he wouldn’t struggle to make Zeke. Why would he?? If we suspend our disbelief of Ethan actually being intelligent as fact rather than a a flimsy excuse for Bum Tickley (hehe never gets old) to add a new character to the roster, it makes a lot of sense in terms of motivation. The problem is that he doesn’t view education in robotics and science as something to be celebrated because no one’s cared enough. Maybe he’ll realise his potential someday. Idk. I haven’t read enough cad XD
