Run. He had to run. His gait was off, his muscles already burned, the crashes into crates and barrels and walls had surely done damage, he didn't have a thing to his name...again. But he was free. He was free and out of that city. How long had it been? How long had he been kept there without him even realizing. All that time and he'd just been supposed to pass through that hellish box of stone and mortar what now felt like so long ago. He'd tricked him! That beguiling snake had led him astray and held him there! Got him in those devil shoes! Nailed them in! He'd let him nail his chain in! How could he have been so stupid?! He had to keep running!
Kousa ran until his legs couldn't carry him anymore, until his limbs burned with the strength of even keeping him up. He'd run with only short breaks for what had to be days, until he came across...farmland? Farmland could spell trouble, but he had to stop, had to take a rest just for a little bit. He quenched his raw throat at a pond and wandered further in. He finally collapsed against a gate, strange rabbits swimming in his vision. Rabbits were safe, rabbits wandering signaled safety. Just a few hours sleep, that's all he needed, just a few hours. He'd get out of here before... morning...
