Henry didn't know how exactly, but he felt like this was his fault. Maybe not directly, but somehow it was him and Josh combined that had disrupted Sadie's train of thought.
It had been some back and forth between them for some time, with Henry in the middle. Josh had finally summoned up the courage to ask Henry out, properly, which was shocking to him, and Henry wanted to say yes, but he also didn't want Sadie to be upset.
She played it off in her usual cool demeanor, told Henry it was fine with a 'why would I care?' which was meant to convey her indifference and somehow hurt Henry at the same time, so Henry said yes to his long time best friend's, and apparently now suitor's, request.
What he hadn't planned on was Sadie barging into their dorm room early Sunday morning like she always did, but this time ignoring the sock they had on the doorknob, and finding her two friends, in bed together, not sleeping.
Henry had died of embarrassment and felt bad, whereas Josh told her to 'get the fuck out!' in no uncertain terms. Henry had never seen anyone yell at Sadie like that. And what was even worse, she was speechless and left, slamming the door.
Fuck me, Henry thought, in the oh shit type of way. They'd fucked and and fucked up. Though the situation was confusing because he wasn't dating Sadie. There had been a rift between her and Josh ever since, the last few weeks.
"Yes, think positively, I'm sure you'll be as good as new. No need to worry." And she was right, the game wasn't a big deal, not for her, Henry knew that. "It happens to the best of us. What do you need, I'm here for you whatever it is, big or small."
