Iâve seen this rumour that âishida has stated Kaneki was originally gay / ishida has confirmed kaneki is bi/panâ since i got into Tokyo ghoul in 2016 and Iâve had enough.
There is no evidence, anywhere, that i can find, that Ishida has ever said something to this effect. All i can find are posts from people saying ishida said that - i have never seen proof of this claim.
Similarly, i have seen outrageous claims about Shuu - that he was based off of Hisoka from HxH and that his design was more similar to Hisokaâs initially - this claim is also false. I have only ever seen this via those tg instagram fan pages that were popular back in the day, and people regurgitating them. This claim feels more verifiably false - because we know that Shuu was initially used in a different manga with Hori. About a year ago, people did find panels that they believed with good reason were from this scrapped manga - i canât find them for the life of me now, will add if i do - but in this manga, Shuuâs design was most like his Pinto design. I assume this was his âinitialâ design. Ishida appears to be a fan of HxH, and has drawn Hisoka, but I cannot find anywhere, him saying that he had based Shuu off of Hisoka.
Neither claim appears to be true. There is very little evidence. I am begging you people, please, fact-check these things. There might be evidence that I have missed - if so, send it to me. I might have missed it.
But I have no reason to believe in any of this, or similar, and i donât understand why so many people have taken them at face value?
For the love of God, please look into things before you post them.
