Going through some of the lesser looked at items in base Elden Ring, and thinking about possible NPC Invaders for Realm of Spirits, and one that comes to mind is Crepus.
We know of him from two items, the talisman Crepusâ Vial, which obscures all sound made by the wearer and Crepusâ Black-Key Crossbow. They describes Crepus as the Head Confessor who served the Two Fingers alongside his confessors as assassins in the shadows. It also notes that those of the Roundtable feared utter silence, for it meant someone was coming for them, likely under orders.
Interestingly, the Vial eliminates all sound, but the crossbow itself was best used for Sniping. Meaning he likely assassinated people from far away and never got too close.
I wonder if the Fellowship ever had interactions with the Confessors and vice verse. As both are predominantly clandestine groups who operate in the shadows and perform assassinations. And its implied through the letters between Ironeye and Isolde that Leyndell nobility may have had sway over the Fellowships missions (as well as the interesting caveat of Ironeyeâs Letters having similar wax seals for assassination contracts as we receive as the Tarnished in Volcano Manor.) While the Confessors were very much a group who operated out of the Roundtable, and seem to have a wide reach themselves having presences in Churches to the Two Fingers outside of the Lands Between.
Anyway, a Head Confessor Crepus NPC invasion might be neat, though it would likely have to have some kind of similar setup to Miriam in the Carian Study Hall. Crepus set up somewhere with his crossbow to snipe at you from distance, and you forced to find a way up to him as he does so. Maybe be utilises the Darkness incantation to hide in and shoot out of better than we can in base game. Or maybe heâs upped his arsenal in death and he uses a Gatling Cannon like Djura in bloodborne to assail us as we approach.
