need whatever married life is doing to that guy (he’s just in love)
(raeger canonically cares more about effort than quality)
Been back playing SoS. I have to say, all the bachelors are really cute, but Raeger is my favourite next to Klaus.
Note: Adele is my character's name
Platesys unofficial and messy Raeger character analysis after seeing all his flower scenes again:
Raeger is a guy who makes it clear for the entire courtship before you exchange rings that he's very popular with women. (sos1 uses rings as the way to ask someone out before marriage. There's a dating stage in this game...! It's awesome!) Like on white day, when you give him chocolate before dating him he remarks that he's received a lot of chocolate that day, same with the flower fair, and even when you begin dating him he mentions ex girlfriends (who don't hold a candle to you, of course!) Point is. He's a very popular and experienced guy. I think his final, pink flower scene is so sweet because it tackles the jealousy conversation in a very entertaining but also touching way. It really makes sense that your farmer would feel jealous, especially when, in the final dating cutscene, he's being very friendly with women who are flirting with him in front of you!
When the women finally leave and your farmer tells him that she wants more of his attention (in one way or another, there are two dialogue trees that lead to the same response and one where your farmer is passive aggressive and the cutscene ends poorly) he's really taken aback initially, in a way where I thought I had picked the wrong dialogue option at first! He says that he's not upset with you, and starts stumbling over saying sweet things while he processes his thoughts, calling your farmer cute and saying he wants to kiss you. Now me, in the real world, with no real feelings of jealousy over some generic 3d models talking to a man who doesn't exist, can take this at face value and think "aww, how cute that he's saying all this." But what I really appreciate about this scene is that your farmer actually gets mad at him for this and rejects him! Because yeah, in a real world scenario, if I expressed such vulnerable feelings and just got called cute, without the man addressing the issue, I'd be pissed too! He apologizes for his reaction and then tells your farmer that he doesn't have interest in any other girls, he's never loved anyone the same way he loves you, and promises to pay more undivided attention to her, then the cutscene ends.
I think Raeger strikes me as the kind of guy who never really had to try that hard in past relationships due to his looks, and perhaps his previous relationships were actually quite shallow! His words in this scene made me think that, in the past, he could probably get away with just about anything if he said something sweet to a girl, whether he was doing that consciously or subconsciously. To be blatantly denied by a woman, especially one that he's dating, is probably something he hasn't experienced that often. and to his credit, he takes it very well and immediately backtracks and reroutes the conversation to a very sincere apology and makes sure there's no doubt in the farmer's mind that she'll always take priority to him.
In his yellow heart event, he talks about how he's never had a girlfriend cook for him before, since he's a professional chef he was always expected to be the cook. (i'm all for this.. get back in the kitchen, boy!) He also remarks that he's impressed with how talented you are in the kitchen, is there nothing you can't do? He says he likes the thought of owning a restaurant with you one day, but understands that you're completely dedicated to your farm, and would be surprised if you entertained the thought of leaving it.
So, all this makes me think that despite most of his flower events revolving around the farmer's caring nature towards him, the thing he actually admires most about her is her drive. When you win a festival he always remarks on how talented you are, as well. I know, I know, of course your partner is going to compliment you when you win a contest, but with him being so career oriented, to the point of working himself through sickness until he passes out, (me too king) I think that he genuinely really appreciates that he can relate to you in being so dedicated to your career. I also think this is part of why he gets along so well with Fritz, since he's also very dedicated to being a great farmer.
Of course, one of my eternal gripes with the harvest moon/sos series will be the lack of unique dialogue, but I do think that it's a testament to how well written this game is that I can glean all of this from just a few cutscenes!
i have long breaks at work today so give me some harvest moon/story of seasons characters to doodle from memory while i work on so,e other requests and stuff!
heres my husband bc i owe him
