Big announcement 🩸 I will be changing my preferred name to Bambi from here on out. The previous name I had was unfortunately tied to pretty traumatic stuff and it felt more comfortable leaving it behind as I continue to move forward.
Along with this I’m gonna do a soft reset of my socials; just some spring cleaning and all that jazz. Truth be told I lost a lot of love for drawing as of recent. Working professionally as an artist is something I do not take for granted, and I recognize it’s a privilege. At the same time there’s things within this industry that have admittedly killed a lot of my passion and drive to make and share stuff. I’m not quitting or giving up gigs, more so I think from here on out I want to have a chiller approach to everything and avoid the rat race as much as possible even if that means taking a financial hit. I really, really miss when drawing made me unapologetically happy, regardless of its value to my portfolio, my reach, my connections, or what have you.
I also need to remind myself I’m still trying to heal from past experiences, and spreading myself super thin for the sake of my career has been pretty unhealthy and frankly sometimes dangerous. This field demands a lot more than I think people realize and on top of this marketable pr persona you’re pressured to put out for yourself, it feels like sandpaper. I don’t want to make numerous sacrifices of both who I am and my art to appease others' expectations if that makes sense. I just want to rekindle the love I used to have with all of this.
With that said, Inkblood is still in the works and is probably THE big professional thing that I’ll be pouring countless hours into. It’s a story I love dearly, and more than anything I want to work on it without being trapped in this sandpaper mentality.
Yikes a lot of rambling just to say “New name, also on some spiritual art journey I guess” lmao. But yeah, that’s about it I think.
