Homophobic is a long stretch, unless they’re feminising him to the point of fetishisation, then it’s an issue. I’m willing to bet the reason most people don’t really acknowledge his athleticism is that it’s only relevant in 3 instances, when Eiji jumps over the wall, when Ash recalls Eiji jumping over the wall and when Ibe explains why he brought Eiji with him. All instances happen right at the beginning. There really isn’t a lot of emphasis on it. Without fly boy I don’t think I’d ever have gotten a grasp on how important the sport had been in Eiji’s life.
But yes! I agree! We deserve more athlete Eiji content!
