My last reblog was not out if support for what the op was saying. In fact, the things they said we rude, hateful, and completely unnecessary. The reason I did reblog it is because, scrolling through the comments, I couldn’t help but smile at all of the people standing up for this beautiful girl being shamed so ignorantly. I reblogged this because I know know that if I ever have a day where I’m unhappy with my weight or feel like I’m not meeting certain standards, there are plenty of people willing to stand up for girls like her and like me.

This really resonated on my Facebook page (Facebook.com/TheAlanaleilani) so I thought I would share it here as well: Although I had a blast at DRAGONCON, it just further reiterated a point I've always known: Plus size cosplayers are often looked down on. Considered automatically lesser because of their size. Less talented, less attractive, less profitable, the list goes on. Now, I am in NO way saying EVERYONE thinks this way. In fact, most of the people I know and love disagree. But at conventions I'm don't always have the benefit of being surrounds by all you amazing supportive people. Some of it is subtle, like a photographer taking a picture of all of your thinner friends, and asking you to step out. Or perhaps shooting both you and your friends, but never publishing your photos. Ever. Sometimes it's snide looks, sometimes it's how invisible you are in a videographers eyes. You can see that you don't even register in their gaze. Sometimes it's more direct. People making rude gestures, hate posts, people taking joke photos and laughing at you. Or even a cosplay featuring site that always turns down your submissions (and every other plus size person) or shuffles them off in some generic folder. All I can say to this is that I'm not going away. I'm here. I'm going to keep being here and making ridiculously large wigs and skirts. And I'm having a blast. So If anyone of you are ever feeling down about your size (no matter which side of the scale you fall on) I understand. I've been there and I'm not going to try and sugar coat things and say it won't be harder for you. Because it will. But you know what it also might be? A hell of a lot more fun!

There's only five hours left to make this happen and we're nowhere near goal. Is there anyone else who would like to make this a thing? It would mean the world to me to have a fandom calendar that celebrates plus size cosplay, androgyny, and doesn't skinny shame either. Is anyone else tired of all the sexy calendar cosplays that always flood the scene?

tl:dr: Lose some weight and then you'll earn my respect
