Sorry if this isn't an ask I'm just confused. I don't read homestuck; what's Crotuna?
I did hear some people saying they dislike it and find it problematic (I don't believe in "problematic ships" by the way, they're all just fiction and people can do what they want with the characters they like), but other than that. I'm very out of the loop.

Do you think being a good narrator (oral storytelling) equals being a good writer ,what do you think a story needs to be called a good story do think a good writer needs to accumulate and marinate his knowledge of the world to be able write well or creativity is just an inate ability to generate ideas on your own or it just depends on how differently you think I know these are very abstract questions and this may not be a right place to search for it but i find your blog to be the most literate in in terms of media literacy please feel free to ignore this if you want
Obsessed with how there is not a single period or questionmark here, just straight bars.
i’ll brake it down in sections:
Does being a good oral narrator equate to being a good writer?
I don’t think it’s a vice versa thing. Good oral storytelling is mostly about pace and atmosphere, so a good writer probably has these down easy peazy. But I don’t think oral narration is necessarily a good preparation for other, more background pillars of writing, such as character building or theme weaving. A good oral storyteller can probably write great prose easier than others, but that’s where I think their advantage ends.
What does a story need to be called Good?
I’ve been asked this before and my answer was “change”. For something to be called A Story, the only prerequisite is that something happened. But I think a good story always depends on how this thing that happened affected everything else. The world, the characters, the reader. If I finish reading a story and I feel like the exact same person as before, hasn’t impacted me whatsoever,, the characters are the exact same people as they were on the first page,, and the world has not suffered any change because of them,, then i don’t think I read a particularly good story, no matter how impressive the prose is.
Is creativity an innate ability and are good writers supposed to only pull things out of their ass constantly?
No. Or well…Nuance. But really, no. Creativity can be a learned skill. Most people do have an innate affinity for it and they gravitate towards the creative fields ever since a young age but I don’t think that’s the only golden ticked to be any sort of creative. There may be a glass ceiling for people who pursue endeavours they have no innate calling to, especially in the arts, but you can be good. You can even be great. Obsession beats talent like 70% of the time. Art is a means of communication that humans developed out of a need to explain the world around them, so yes. By observing said world really really really hard and learning to twists its aspects to your liking, you can learn to be a good writer.
Is the ability to think outside of the box innate, then?
Ehhh. I don’t think so either. If you can learn to identify what the box is, how big it is, and why it’s there in the first place,, then you will start seeing things that are outside of it and start picking them up.
It’s worth mentioning this might just be my autistic, pattern-seeking and pattern-obsessed brain talking, but I really think you can manually learn just about everything if you want to. Perhaps you won’t be the best (there are a million other little factors that contribute to the concept of “being the best” that go far beyond talent and hard work, so I won’t get into it) but you can certainly be really good, and have a whole lot of fun and find fulfilment through it.
I hope I was of help :))
