Just got back from Wales! It was so exciting to finally go after wanting to for awhile and I wanted to come gush in your inbox because the Camlann pod coming out and reminding me that I love the Welsh Language was a big part of what inspired me to finally plan a trip and go.
I got to practice reading a lot of signs but wasn't brave enough to try speaking any welsh to a real person. lol.
My some highlights include getting a sunburn in llandudno/great orne (it was over 80 degrees!), getting a tour through the Bangor University Arthurian collection and special collection (shout out to Shan), my friend getting told off for accidentally using a not public bathroom in a bookstore in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, the five hour train ride down to cardiff, using our air bnb host's BBC iPlayer account to make my friend watch the show Staged (we only got through s2) because you can't find episode 1 anywhere online, the ceilings in castell couch and Cardiff castle, and buying way too many souvenirs just cus they have welsh written on them.
We also did southern Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, and Paisley) and parts of England (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Whitby, York, Bakewell just for the Chatsworth House, Sheffield, Liverpool, Sailsbury for Stonehenge, and Oxford, then we bused to Heathrow to fly out).
This is absolutely wonderful!!! I'm so so glad you visited Wales and that you enjoyed it. Prifysgol Bangor is where I learned modern Welsh over the summer!!
Llanfairpwyll is a key destination of course, and Tobias from the show actually lives in Cardiff! Amber (@tincanaudio) is in Glasgow too and I'm very pleased you made it there. I'm a huge, huge fan of York, it's arguably my favourite city in the UK.
Thank you so much for telling us about your trip!
