âLetâs gosomewhere together,â Ătienne broke the comfort of the silence, sometime later, when the television had gone black and whatever they had been watching ended. Theyâdremained on the sofa together, legs twined together, using each other as blanketand pillow and it had been all rather lovely, not having to say anything tofill the silence. Edward looked up from the folds of Ătienneâs sweatshirt andfrowned slightly, wondering what wavelength Ătienne was riding and where he wasgoing with his thought, âI mean â we have access to more money than we everthought we would ever have and, well, weâve never been on a proper honeymoon, right?â
Edward felt his cheeks colour at the word and he tried not topicture what a honeymoon meant, for regular, real couples who got married anddid such a thing. âLetâs fuck off somewhere warm for a week or two â or three âget away from this shit post-Christmas depression and crap weather. Just you,me and some beautiful beach. I think itâll do us good â to get away fromeverything. Itâs just what we need to bounce back from this funk.â Edward knew his friend was right. This month feltlike it had lasted ages and perhaps a vacation would be a good break from hislife and the perfect way to bury the last of the memories of Carl  once andfor all. âAlright,â He conceded, not that he needed any real excuse to run awaysomewhere with Ătienne, âWhere to?â
Ătiennesat up a little straighter, maybe surprised that Edwardwas so willing to humour him on this rather sudden idea, but he seemed pleasednonetheless. âAnywhere,â He said, âAnywhere you want to go â you pick,â Headded hastily. âYouâve been so good with this whole farce â the least youdeserve is an all expenses paid trip by yours truly to wherever you want to go.It doesnât matter where,â Edwardquirked an eyebrow at that and Ătienne cut him off before he could sayanything, âJust â no Antarctic penguin safari â I want to go somewhere warm.â Edwardlaughed and pouted at the same time and sat up all the same, crossing his armsand tried to look as dejected as possible, âBut â what if my lifelong dream wasto go on an emperor penguin safari?â He asked, mock serious.
Ătienne followedhim up into a sitting position and shook his head, âNope, not for ourhoneymoon. You can go by yourself if you want, Iâll even fly your first class,or whatever, you can send me all the photos and adopt all the penguins, but youainât getting me there.â Edward laughed at his antics, shoved at his chestplayfully, and relented, âAlright, alright, no Antarctic adventures, Iâll findsome warm, exotic location for our honeymoon; maybe something like Mexico, orthe Florida Keys,â He joked and got hit by a pillow for his troubles.
