Celebrating the Qantas Flying Art Series. 

Since 1994, the airline has commissioned and displayed six striking l artwork across our fleet in collaboration with Aboriginal artists and their representatives.

We managed to get breakfast, pack and to the airport before the worst of the heat hit Melbourne. Check- in and bag drop was a breeze compared to Jetstar. We boarded our very full Quantas flight along with lots of families including a disabled young girl in a wheelchair (last day before summer vacation ended - who knew?!?). The flight attendants closed the doors and the plane rolled very briefly away from the gate. And we sat in the excruciating heat for the next 45 minutes suffocating without aircon before they rolled back and unloaded the plane. Apparently a warning light came on and the aircon stopped working.

We were uncomfortable for sure but I was wondering about all the poor families holding babies and entertaining toddlers, and the parents loading and then exiting their disabled daughter in that heat. And what about the poor engineers who had to repair the problem in 40°+ heat.

Several hopeful updates, a water and a $15 voucher later, we reboarded the same rather stuffy plane 4 hours later. And we made it to Adelaide in time for a late Asian dinner (tasty) because most other establishments were closed due to public holiday.
