man quakecon streams have been awful this year, im so glad the community have been handling the quake live duel invitational & quake world stuff (like they do every year lmao). but deciding last-minute not to show the champions trailer, even though they said they would, then uploading it to youtube a few minutes later??? what the hell is happening?

From what I’ve read after the event, they were having some issues with their internet over the course of the weekend. Still, I don’t know how they couldn’t just prevent this from happening. It is Quakecon, for crying out loud, probably the biggest BYOC gathering in the history of PC gaming.
Star Wars can pull this “attendee-only showcase” thing because it’s fucking Star Wars (and also they decided to release that exclusive trailer to the world later on). id software may have gotten away with the early alpha showcase of the new DOOM back in Quakecon 2014 because it had been over a decade of no new DOOM game.
But after the whole debacle of this year I don’t think these “attendee-only” deals should be tolerated anymore. Make up your minds from the beginning and stick to the plan.
