i vote madoka, it’s super amazing
i've been avoiding watching it because i know i'll get too far into it but alright, i'll dedicate tonight to madoka :p
I wasn't saying I agree with that/it was my own personal thought, I was saying that that's what I've been told when I've tried to get involved in the discussions. I care, I'm concerned, and I support. I just wanted to get your opinion on people who are saying that it isn't the place of white people to get involved. Also happy birthday!
I didn't say you was, you asked my opinion and I was stating it. The whole point of my initial comment and my response to your question was because of white feminists feeling they didn't need to be included in the conversation because of Jada's race. As you stated, you've seen these comments yourself so deep down you know I'm right. Feminism isn't about race but black women are often overlooked and not included when it comes to feminists protecting women and this is just another example.
Thank you for the birthday wishes.
About your Jada post, I've been seeing a lot of people here in the tumblr-lands saying that as a white person, it isn't my place to get involved in the discussions because it does deal with race and stereotypes and things like that. I guess I was just curious about your opinion on this? Like, have you seen posts about this as well, or is this not a majority opinion? The post I saw basically said "Friendly reminder, if you're white you don't belong in this discussion, as it's rooted in race."
It isn't my place to get involved in the discussions because it does deal with race and stereotypes and things like that.
lmao but that's my point. White feminists claim to be about all women and hoop and holler all day long about feminism but when a young black woman is a victim that's a conversation they want no parts of. If Beyonce dropped a song right now they'd be posting long ass dissertations calling her a traitor and hopping on the we need to stick together bandwagon but when a young girl like Jada is the victim they stay on mute. They get no love nor respect from me. This isn't about race but the lack of support, care and concern is because of her race. This is why I don't consider myself a feminist. I find it hard to support a movement that would never support me.
