Thinking that with Jake and Alexander, it starts with them being pen pals/messaging to keep in contact after they go off to their respective schoolings and meeting up/hanging out in person when they have the time to go visit each other, leading up to them developing feelings for each other and coming clean about that during one of their visits.

With Nog and Qunior on the other hand (whom I have more fleshed out with fics already written), it starts off with Nog being lonely on the Burton and Quinor showing up at random because he’s missed him and he doesn’t want Nog to be lonely. He starts messing with the ships systems to get Nog’s attention which leads to Nog suggesting poker games as a substitute for fucking with the ship. Albeit their coming clean/confessing to each other stuff is a lot more drama-filled with Nog finding that oh those feelings he had for Jake that he moved on from like several years ago are actually requited? crazy.

Qunior takes Nog down to Pennington so Nog can talk to Jake about it in person and it is just. The Most Awkward moment of Nog's entire life. And no, I am not stopping there cause Qunior takes the opprotunity once they get back to the Burton to full confess his feelings for Nog who has been coming to terms with his own feelings for Qunior. They develop their relationship from there before Qunior gets the four of them together to suggest forming a polycule.

With Nog and Alexander they keep that “you suck at being a Klingon/Ferengi(/affectionate)” vibe cause I love that dynamic with the two of them so much hehe.

Alexander and Qunior, it’s a very “you’re annoying” “you’re cute when your annoyed” vibe.

Nog and Jake I think have the most angst going on in a way of “I thought you’d never love me and now I don't know what to do knowing that you do. Or more accurately that you have” on Nog’s end and in a way of “I didn’t see it before but I can see it now and I don’t intend on losing my chance for this, for you, again.” on Jake's end.
